Wouldn't be surprised if they have an off season next year.
2 years in a row playing so well and not even winning a league cup is surely going to hit them psychologically.

It’s quite unlikely anyone would have said you’d played well for two years in a row at the end of last season isn’t it? Given you were 5th in 21/22.
Perhaps Arsenal are made of sterner stuff, who knows, but going so close and failing impacts most teams. We never managed to finish top 2 for more than 2 seasons in a row when competing with the City juggernaut.

Difference is you fell away at the end of last season, sought to rectify those mistakes by spending £250m, got closer this time but still won't be good enough.
It's possible next season you do what we did in 19/20 but I'm also not so sure we win that title had we not won the CL and got the mental and experience boost from winning something big.

Arsenal will do well to go toe to toe with City for 3 seasons in a row. It's not an easy feat. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a drop off from Arsenal next season. They've also won fack all in that period they've been awesome, which is starting to look bad.
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
I don't know about that. We lost the 17/18 final...and quite spectacularly too. We also had Klopp losing his last 6 or something finals too...yet we still had the confidence. We just had more focus as a club and we all knew we were on the cusp of something big.
Arsenals fans might be feeling the same about where they are. As outsiders we had everyone telling us we were bridesmaids, nearly men and whatever else they could throw at us but we knew...you'd only really get the feeling if you follow the team every week.
I'm sure Arsenal fans are feeling the same. Whether it actually works out remains to be seen.

Fair points of course, but only once were we able to challenge City two seasons in a row. We won it one of those seasons. Arsenal have not. We also had Klopp. Arteta ain't so bad but he ain't no Jurgen.
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
We failed to challenge City for 3 consecutive seasons through our own incompetence tbh.
We all knew we needed a CB in the 20/21 season. Yet we went into the season Van Dijk, Matip and Gomez as our first team options.
We all love Jurgen. He's going to have thousands of grown ass men balling their eyes out this weekend. He's not without his flaws though.

Fair points but if we'd lost the CL final two seasons in a row and then also lost the PL by a point, that would have been an unbelievable mental blow.

With Klopp having lost 6 finals in a row, it would have been overkill.

What might give Arsenal a boost is any possible incomings? they have the core of a good squad no doubt but throw in a better LB and more importantly a top striker and that could help move them on.
All that said it is very difficult, in way way to be sure how a following season will pan out, if City for instance improve as well it could all be a moot point for the other teams?
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
Yeah that's all I'm saying really...from an Arsenal fan's perspective, I can understand where their confidence is coming from. We had it.
I can also feel their disappointment with losing to Man Cheaty after going hard in the paint all season. We've been there too.
Whether they actually cross that hurdle is another thing altogether.

Big season for Liverpool as well, probs only need a couple of incomings to to bolster the squad but the manangement change could work either way, could be a lift overall or a slight drop off? interested to see how a few clubs respond next season

There are numerous examples of players falling off a cliff once Klopp leaves, and across two clubs as well.
However, we’ve some of the best U23’s in Europe and I’m hopeful a new approach will not only bring about less injuries but also make us more solid defensively.
Keep hold of Salah, and somehow find a quality DM and CB and we could be in business.
Be interesting to see what Arsenal do. Not sure how much more they can spend but it’s getting increasingly difficult to improve their first team and it’ll cost oodles to do so.
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
Robbing that will impact on a fair few clubs next season, financially I mean, how much they can spend could be pivotal to both who they bring in and at what level they can afford?
Liverpool have the core of the squad well covered and I do feel teams that have youngers READY to step up will benefit big time some teams really only need 2-3 max to impact what will happen, looking forward already to seeing what happens and who comes in for a few teams

posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
My fear is losing Trent and Salah, the drop off in quality would be huge so if we did I suspect we’d be in a tangle.
Saying that, I’d take top four and a good run in the cups as my expectations are fairly low.
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
Yeah playing squad wise, as long as we can keep this group together, bar a few fringe players, then I'm a little more at ease.
Other than that, not expecting anything from next season tbh
