You never see the usual excuses made for others of his ilk made for him. Like burn out from a career that started early, the weight and expectations of what he's supposed to be United's homegrown and English star, local lad that will lead to glory.

United have been pants and many many great, talented or well rated players have flopped there. It's a burial ground. The managers come and go, they spend 200m every summer. I don't know how Rashford is supposed to remove himself from that.

I can see Mainoo ending up and thriving as the furthest forward in the midfield 3 because his positioning when defending is quite poor and he often leaves quite a big hole in the middle.

It's not solely on him but I also don't think it's a total coincidence United regularly concede 15+ shots a game since he's been one of the deeper midfielders.

I don't rate him. Obviously been wrong before, but I don't think he's all that. He might end up like Rashford without hitting the highs.

Rashford is a very good player. His pace and balance are excellent and his finishing can be, albeit inconsistent.

But he’s at the wrong place at the wrong time. I don’t think he’s the type of player who leads on the pitch. He doesn’t pick those around him up. And for some unknown reason he almost became Utd talisman for a while. He feeds off other players rather than the other way around.

He’s a player that would excel in a great team and shrink away in an average one imo. Unfortunately for him Utd have been trash for most of his time there. Genuinely think that had he come to us to replace Mane then he’d have been great.

Honestly, best thing he could do is leave Utd. But they pay him £300k a week so that’s unlikely to happen.

Rashford had that one good season where he got 30 in all comps but when you break it down he scored loads of goals in the Europa league and they had 2 cup runs where they did not play any decent side until the final.

He has been sussed out. Even Trent deals with him with ease.

not many players have a goal involvement of every 144 mins or w.e it is over almost 400 games. not many players have played at the top level 400 games by the age of 26 either.

I think you're underrating him far more than ive ever seen a utd fan overrate him.

imagine him under fergie or klopp or pep would probably push him to that world class level. as it is hes a level below that with inconsistency. Still in a poor team his stats are impressive, esp considering he has entire seasons of being rather poor.

i dont think hes been protected enough either at times by utd, or had that figure to do it and put an arm round him. i think hes struggled mentally to handle it at times and been hung out to dry.

Think thats unfair tbh!

He got 17 goals & 5 assists in the league and 30 goals & 10 assists in 56 games in total. Thats a good season.

He's been sh!te since to be fair.

There’s obviously something wrong with him atm and the pressure on him is insane, and that means fluctuating form but it’s no more fluctuating that Utd form, in fact they go hand in hand.

He’s just not a £300k a week player, that’s all it is. If he was on £120k no-one would bat an eye lid I don’t think.

We used to control the game in & out of possession up until 2022...don't know what happened since but looks like we're back now

Rashford has everything a forward needs in terms of skills. I just think he's extremely limited intellectually. He therefore needs a strict father figure as a manager to to help him do what he needs to do as he's not capable of doing it himself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah he doesn't seem to try and looks lazy imo, I've never rated him as a top 4 striker!

He has played well for England at times, but still you aren't gonna win trophies with him.

aye theres been times where a player his age with the pressure expectation so unfair. Should have been pulled out the spotlight protected, but 300k a week their best player theyve not had the balls or capability to do it. and hes just been left hung out to dry at times.

If I can ask, what about him gives you the impression that he is "extremely limited intellectually?"

I also think the backlash Rashford got from some fans for the school dinners campaign was mad. You’re a footballer, stick to football seemed to be the gist.

I think there are certain fans waiting (willing) him to fail.

Of course. The big give away is that they never fail to mention that he fed the kids. He stuck it to the Tories and irritated many Tories even on here.

The way he plays on the pitch, how he seems to go through motions of being extremely confident to being down in the dumps, putting out statements online directed at fans comments, things he has got up to off the pitch etc etc.

Fair enough. By that logic then a lot of players are extremely limited intellectually.

He’s always come across as quite bright to me. Not sure you can tell much about people’s intelligence from the way they play tbh.

Gazza could see things four moves ahead on the pitch but I wouldn’t want him doing my tax returns.

Lad, what a weekend

Van Dijk having a blast against Utd, what a captain. Gravenberch was everywhere too, very mature performance. Totally killed their hype after 5-6 minutes, this was a proper statement win

posted on 3/9/24

Grav is definitely proving to be a very important player for us. I really rate him as a midfielder but wasn't sure on a him and Mac pairing in a 2. I think signing a proper 6 in the January window and having him rotate with Grav and Mac depending on the game situation would be an incredible midfield.

posted on 3/9/24

On another 6, a few journos mentioned yesterday saying we still value Zubimendi, and it looks like he still hasn't signed a new deal.

Could be one we revisit in Jan to give us a boost.

posted on 3/9/24

Rewatched the whole game last night.
Are we sure there was only one Ryan Gravenberch on the pitch? He seemed to be everywhere at the same time!

posted on 3/9/24

If we can get the Gravenberch that he looked like he could be at Ajax, that's one hell of a player.
