On another 6, a few journos mentioned yesterday saying we still value Zubimendi, and it looks like he still hasn't signed a new deal.
Could be one we revisit in Jan to give us a boost.

Yep and why we didn't go after the destroyers who are limited on the ball that people wanted.
I mean on average most destroyers are not the most technically gifted players but not all of them are completely useless with the ball at their feet.
Hendo would run around like a headless chicken 'destroying' for us...doesn't mean he was completely hopeless with the ball at his feet.
Anyways our midfield looked far more balanced with Mac playing a more conservative role with Gravenberch and Trent being allowed to run into midfield on the right side...Szosboss just has the legs to float everywhere and I thought Jota put in a great shift as well.
I'm intrigued to see if we keep it or if there's more tweaks to come
Mac was gr8, he put in the most tackles and won the most duels i think. Szob was causing them problems drifting from the left into holes all across the pockets between their def and mf.
worked quite well and we're happy to sit in shape wait and set traps conceding possession. they had 52 % of it i think but we looked far more in control. Even though we were very sloppy for a lot of the game too if we're honest. Diaz was giving the ball away every time he had it for the opening 35 mins it felt like. Salah not far behind and the mf barely got on the ball. Still few times they did like our opening goal that was ruled out showed what the mf can do, that was magic from gravy.
the impressive thing about grav vs utd was his anticipation and reading of the game. ontop of just looking well up for it with an aura of sorts that hes just the best on the pitch.
he showed u dont need an enforcer if u can anticipate things and read the game, he was intercepting passes and winning the 2nd balls knockdowns all game. Do that and u make the game look easy and dont even have to tackle well.

Even peak Fab was not the tough tackler destroyer. His game was about anticipation, playing on half turn and progressing the ball all over the pitch.
he was a gr8 tackler tho, used his long legs very well, loved going to ground for a tackle too.
comment by Boca Seniors (CR7= Club Record, 7-0) (U19731)
You can see our pressing structure is more about setting traps than we used to do. Dalot was identified as the weak link and was allowed time and space. Slot clearly knew Casemiro wasn't the best in the build up phase.
Our build up structure was different than last week. Mac and Gravenberch played as the double pivot and Trent played further up the pitch. Slot likes more short passes in the first phase. Trent takes more risks with his passing in that inverted role and this increases losing the ball in dangerous positions.
That's why we didn't go for players like Ederson or Ugarte. Both players are limited with their passing and receiving the ball on the half turn. Slot wants players who can control and speed up the game in possession.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this. I seemed to remember Gravenberch was deepest majority of the game but a few in here have said it was Mac. Might be me misremembering but I'm happy with Grav making that his spot tbh

Yep used his long legs but don't think he went to ground that much.
Our new midfield need to work on the tactical fouls which Fab was elite at.

Wasn't he the the most dribbled past player last season?
Quite the turn around if so. He's been far more aggressive and it's serving us we'll.

casemeiro dribbled past him on sunday
its gonna happen in midfield to everyone from time to time i suppose. Mac not quick so if hes not in the right position its likely.
he was quite clever with his tackling vs utd and getting back. mellor was showing clips of him winning tackles and said he made the most that game.

People are doing way too much. Some are acting like Spurs fans last season when Ange started well.
Guarantee when we drop points or lose a game, it will be “the honeymoon period is over!”

Maybe, but what if we never drop points again
Just got to remember to take it a game at a time. Don't think I'd say I've seen any LFC fans getting carried away with predictions though? Most seem to be saying we'll be in the top 4 race, probably finishing third but a fair way ahead of 4th and a bit behind City and Arsenal.
Seems about right given the relative qualities of each squad?
