United scraping a last minute equaliser through Maguire is hilarious

We need United to beat Villa for us

posted 2 weeks ago

Why do we need United to beat Villa? Are people thinking Villa are capable of a title challenge this season? Can't see it myself, especially with CL to contend with also.

I don’t see Villa being in a title chase but realistically neither will we be, so good to see top four rivals drop points. United won’t be anywhere near.

A draw would be ideal, keeps ETH in the job too.

Certainly wouldn’t be unhappy to see Villa drop points.

Villa are nowhere near the title imo. They’re certainly capable of big performances but right now I’d have them Chelsea and Spurs scrapping for 4th.

It’s debatable how close we are to City and Arsenal but I think there’s a clear gap between those 3 teams and the other CL contenders.

Tbh, I don’t care what the result is. Utd win and it probably keeps ETH in a job. Villa win and we get to laugh at Utd. All good for us.

Would a draw be enough to keep Seven Hag in the job? I think it might.

Wouldn't necessarily rule us out of a title race. We do need to see how we fare against the top teams though.

I don't see why we won't be in the title race. One of the best squads in the country and a good start to the season. What's causing you to think we won't be?

Fair point on ETH though but I'd rather see them losing, as it's fun.

Yeah me too. Also fixture congestion, we’ve rode our luck a bit the last two games.

posted 2 weeks ago

Aye, think we’ve done well so far but shut out easily by forest at home. Think we look very open too at times and very sus for large periods of games, got away with quite a lot of stuff if we look back. Also not seeing this more control stuff people claim of Slot. We struggled again last night to control the game, keep the ball. Bologna had 51% possession last night after 70 mins? Ended with 49%?

Better quality teams are surely gonna ask more questions, hopefully Slot can raise his and the players games for them.

Fearing Palace tbf theyve been wuite poor this season and their atmosphere vs utd the other week was worst ive heard it? But it will be rocking for us and theyll be well up for it. We’ve just had a tough game wed night theyve had a full week prep and we’ve not even have adequate recovery time and maybe a days prep if that?

To be fair I still don’t think ETH is that much to do with the problem, I think that club is absolutely rotten to the core and very few managers could fix it. Funny though.

And I think we’ve had a very easy start on paper but I’m still not sold on our midfield options until we have a run of much harder games. I’d be happy with 3rd this year.

We will have more games like Forest too, just the nature of a side in transition.

We’ve not lost at Palace in a decade

We have good squad depth. Left back cover is poor but other than that we're good for every position. Could certainly use a number 6 but we have options if needed. All teams have a weakness in their squad this season. City sold their backup striker and have no other senior striker than Haaland. Their first choice number 6 is out for the season and they've no obvious replacement. Talk of Stones playing there which hits their depth in defence as well as the number 6 position.

Arsenal lack depth up front and in defence.

Experience I'm not sure where that's coming from. We have players who have won leagues, European trophies, world cup etc. I'd say it's Arsenal lacking experience if you had to choose one of the three.

Can’t see it this weekend tbh but we’ll see. No easy away games in the Prem and be good to go into yet another international break with a win. I mean that’s obvious but also very important imo. Get some space to fifth too.

In fairness TOOR you are a little overly optimistic. We have had a fantastic start but let’s just temper expectations a bit and see where we are by the time the January window opens, lots of tough games to play between now and then.

Sign a couple players in the January window to bolster the squad and I’d be feeling a lot better about a title challenge.

Agree on Ten Hag. The players aren't title winning standard apart from one or two. They have a poor side. How much of that is due to Ten Hag is debatable.

Yeah we've had a fairly easy start which I think is a positive on why we will challenge. Gave the players a chance to get used to the new manager and what he wants whilst still picking up wins which will hopefully mean they are on their way to perfecting it by the time they play the better teams. We've always had the odd blip against the weaker teams who sit in and counter. That can always happen in the PL.
