Possibly a double bid for Di Maria and Alonso? I think LvG ultimately wants Strootman, so a player like Alonso might actually make sense.

Because he is LvG's main man for Holland's CM, going as far as to completely change his tactical setup when the guy got injured.
Managers like players they know inside out... LvG knows Strootman inside out.

Strootman was critical for LVG's plans for Netherlands. He was the best DM available to him. Situation is quite different at united, he can get any DM he wants(according to Ed), I dont really see him waiting till Strootman gets better. There are many of better holding midfield players than him
we should have gotten strootman before he went to roma. i made an article regarding this situation. lately we been buying players that have PL experience and leave out players like strootman thinking whether they would fit into PL or not. KS has been good for roma and now we are convinced we seem to be interested.

If all fit we have a good enough defence for top 4 we just need a DM to help cover. Khedeira and Di Maria double bid would be perfect. Not saying it's going to happen though.
