Mata is safe, LVG will probably play De Maria, Mata and Januzaj behind Rooney or RVP, or he may swap Januzaj with Rooney, Mata will be the no10 in anycase imo

He has already said that he prefers Rooney as a 9 OR 10. And he's captain now so he plays. Simple as that.
RVP will play when fit.
Di Maria is likely to be our record signing if he joins and he'll play.
That leaves Mata or Januzaj and people might think Mata is the easy choice. But on the wing, he's nowhere near as effective. I'd prefer Januzaj myself for that wider role.
I think Mata might be in trouble if we do the unthinkable and buy Di Maria.

Ordinarily I would say that £60m is too much but I think right now the club needs to inject some excitement into the team for commercial reasons as much as footballing ones. Or to put it another way, it needs to breathe life back into the Manchester United 'brand'.
With no CL football we were always going to have to pay through the nose for top quality this year. The consequences of not doing so could be equally if not far more economically damaging in the long term. I'm not necessarily saying we should splash that amount on Di Maria but we need top quality players - and "star quality" - and this year of all money should not be an issue.
Top players want to win trophies. When they look at our squad they don't see a team that is likely to do that. IMO that more than anything else is why we struggle to sign top players - because we have a dearth of them. We may need to spend big to land the first couple but then results will improve and other quality players will follow without necessarily costing a fortune.
