Blind might have to play in defence if LVG is adamant that we play a left footed CB, isn't Blackett still injured?

True, I know a lot of people hate hearing it but we have often missed Welbeck's pace this season. With Rooney so deep yesterday the gap between midfield and attack was huge and a bit of pace would have really helped.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dunno, why you're laughing. Welbeck would have been perfect yesterday. And in other games Welbeck would be a far better partner for Falcao than RVP because he'd open up more space for Radamel.

"Janko McNair Blackett Shaw"
For a team that have spent £150m in the summer and only 1 of those new players causing issue in defence that is an awful line-up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree we didn't address the defence properly and I would rather see anyone other than Valencia there. he is awful !

Not sure.
Our attack hasn't been great against City or Chelsea, and the defence was less of an issue (though the attackers had had to put in more work defensively than they would in smaller games), but that's two of the best teams in the league so it is understandable.
Starting with the QPR game the attack has been pretty good and was showing signs of improvement with a lot of chances and goals scored (not as good as can be but still decent), but we look so susceptible to the counter - just look at West Brom and Leicester's goals.
We'll probably have similar problems against Palace where we'll be on the front foot and dominating possession in their half.

You don't think we lack pace up front this season?
You are also aware that Danny has scored just 2 goals less than Rooney, RVP and Falcao combined this season.

Blind has no pace for CB. Even Carrick is quicker than him when he stretches his legs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hasn't Blind played CB before though? Wasn't he bought for these kind of situations?
And against Palace at home Hafi could play at the back if our midfield and attack do their job until Smalling is back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently he has but in the Dutch league. Possibly get away with it against Palace. They were poor tonight and if we don't beat them serious questions must be asked of LVG. It's a must win game now.

-------------------------------------------------
They got battered at home by Sunderland tonight so confidence will be low. Gonna be attack vs defence on Saturday. Need to score early and if so we could score a few.
Darren
I think Palace's pace could cause us problems but Jedinak suspended is a huge loss for them, most tackles made by any player in the PL and hasn't missed a single game for Palace in the PL for the past 2 seasons. If we can't beat Palace comfortably at home I'd be seriously worried.

Aussie legend.
Our U21s lost too , their first defeat tonight losing 3-2 at home to Leicester. Barmby got the winner in 92nd min to rub wounds into the salt !
Wasn't really a battering, the red card killed the game for Palace.
Rob, I mean about being caught out on the counter.
1982, yeah we should be beating them comfortably even with an injury hit defence, they're crap.
But the defence will continue to be a problem as long as we can't keep a consistent back four because it puts a lot more pressure on the attack.
If you're having to score 3 goals a game to win then there are problems. The attack cannot bail you out every game, unless you have Suarez.
That might just have to be our season.
Score more than them and pray for 4th.

we certainly dont lack danny welbeck this season and Ive had more than my fill of what he supposedly brought to the team when I saw his name on a utd teamsheet hard work pace and the mostly unfulfilled promise that he would actually stick the ball in the back of the facking net. If you want real pace unfront with no end product sign usain bolt
On another note, who's seeing Interstellar at the IMAX?
Seems to be lots of going round in circles here. Our squad looks pretty strong on paper, but we all know that means didly squat if they don't perform on the field. And to play as a team takes time, both in defence and attack and that will be hindered by injuries etc, the brilliance of individual players can sometimes hide that, but initially it's just a case of having inconsistent performances, which should improve over time.
Now there's nothing to guarantee that improvement, but we have both the manager and the players in place that makes improevment highly likely, and with the improvement will come more points. And during this frustrating period, the players will just have to knuckle down and grind out points more often also.
You're forgetting we have Rooney, the lad has 11 goals and 5 assists for us this calendar year, he's on fire.
Rob, luckily Liverpool's defence is even worse and they cannot do the same as their attack is shiiit without Suarez.

Probably as much as Welbeck has in three years, to be fair.

Looks pretty boring TBH. Not a huge Nolan fan, but I guess the effects and sound will be impressive at the iMax, how much are tickets there though, like £20?
Interestingly we haven't kept a clean sheet for over 6 games. Last time we were this bad was in 1997.
Another over-hyped expensive film. Good effects, big deal !
8 & 2, equally sh-t really.
