Pretty much,
There's been a few reprobates who denied his quality, and said he wasn't a great because he never won the PL. There was also a bit of Scholes bashing and some questioning of his DJ beatin antics...
Tis a good read.
General consensus:
Absolutely top quality player and Premier League great.

Sol Campbell is a pudding.
I'm amazed it took Jay over 500 comments before he was able to drag my article off topic.
Usually his mere appearance spells doom for any article.
For all the mocking of Gerrard by United fans I think we are only having this debate because he has been a fantastic player for them and, IMO, a PL great.
For me you don't have to win it to be a great. Cruyff is a WC great for me and didn't win it so don't think that is a valid argument.

Gerrard will go down as a great player that played in the PL.
======================
But not a Premier League great? Hmmmm.

Feck me, I went at the wrong time.
I missed this stuff.
Not a big Gerrard fan. He's carried Liverpool granted, but he'd have been a true great if the prem had he left and gone to Chelsea when he had the chance.
Just like shearer is a great players like berkamp, drogba, Cole, ole it can be argued made more of their abilities by being able to see the likely outcome of going to a bigger and better team. Had United not been the top team in the prem for so long you can bet giggs, scholes, Neville etc would have left.
Ronaldo is a great example, you can't argue about how good he was here but look what he's achieving now, same will apply to bale. So Gerrard top player but should have achieved more but lacked the bottle to leave

you've a point but your dismissing the pull of the hometown club to players like Shearer and Gerrard.
Gerrard has stated before that winning a league for Chelsea would mean very little to him, there is a line in his book where his dad says to him, "who are you going to show it to, no one around here will care".
Gerrard felt winnign trophies for Liverpool was the unlimate accolade for him, and he won everything bar that elusive league title, the trophies won at LFC mean so much more then had he left for chelase and won a few leagues on top of everything he'd alreay won.
you actually say he lacked the bottle??? FFS did you even consider that it took bottle to stay at LFC and try and win somethign for his hometown club, instead of going to any club he wanted (lets face it 2005 gerrard gets into any team in the world at that time) just to win a league title?
Shearer always wanted to be captain and number 9 for Newcaslte, it meant so much more to him to play in black and white then it would have for united.
You dismiss this far too much.

It would have been far easier for Gerrard to go to Chelsea, get more money, more trophies and more recognition than to stay at Liverpool.

So true.
I cannot fathom why these people think it's a negative to have a player stick with their hometown club; like it somehow diminishes their ability and achievements.

Shearer had played for other clubs and won the league with 1 before joining Newcastle.Gerrard simply stayed at Liverpool partly I expect because if he joined the likes of Chelsea he'd be just one amongst many good players,at Liverpool he knew he was considered as the best player at the club
