Yet in the sky ultimate premier league XI they put gerrard in.
He was the only player in that selection that hadn't won the premier league.
He has played in the premier league for 17 years. And in those years has been a far better player than the majority of the players that have won it.
Hence he is a premier league great.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of the players that have won the PL and play in the same positions that Gerrard has played in, there are plenty that would be picked ahead of Gerrard.
In CM, the likes of Keane, Vieira, Scholes and Lampard are better than Gerrard.
Beckham and Ronaldo were better right sided players than Gerrard.
As a number 10, Cantona, Bergkamp, Rooney, Silva are better than Gerrard. Even players that haven't won the PL such as Zola and Le Tissier would rank ahead of Gerrard.
As a DM he isn't worth considering as a 'PL great'.
He's been a very good player, but his reputation is probably greater than his overall abilities.

Was that the one voted by Merson, Thompson, Nicholas and Le Tissier? Two ex-Arsenal players and an ex-Liverpool player? No anti-United bias there then.....
I watched that and it was a complete joke. Tommo had the casting vote on the CB which is why Terry got in ahead of Rio. Thanks to the Arsenal lads and Tommo, Vieira and Gerrard were voted in ahead of Keane and Scholes (and Tommo would also have gone for Lampard ahead of either!!).
There was no room for even Alan Shearer, the PL's top scorer by a distance, because the Arsenal lads insisted that both Henry (fair enough) and Bergkamp (gimme a break) deserved to be in ahead of him.
Le Tissier voted for Scholes but Merson had the casting CM vote so we ended up with Vieira. Should have been Keane all day long.
I rate Gerrard very highly but please don't use that ridiculous Sky XI as some kind of official poll on the PL's best players! It was a farce, compiled by four individuals - three of whom had a clear anti-United bias throughout.
The fact that there were more Arsenal players in the team than United players surely demonstrates that...
Ok, maybe we use the PFA awards and the PFA teams of the year that included Gerrard then.

Not sure why Terry v Rio is a problem.
Terry is still performing while Rio is showing he was being carried in the last few years.
Shearer should've been in ahead of Bergkamp though.

He is two years older than Terry. What do you expect?
Even Terry said that Rio was the best CB in the world a and that the rest were just trying to reach his level.
I'd pick Rio over Terry every day of the week and twice on Sundays
when it comes to Vieira and Gerrard v Keane and Scholes, I'd take Stevie and Vieira personally but it's all much of a muchness and personal preference really. No obvious right answer
I'd have Terry every time. But who was the other? Terry and Adams for me. Rio made way too many mistakes and was too clumsy for me. Just a player I could never get the high rating off by many.
There are some players throughout the United squads in the Premier League I still feel were underrated but Rio and Scholes, the latter only after retiring, were overrated.
The likes of Keane, Giggs, Van Nistelrooy and Stam are still massively underrated even though they are highly rated.

Terry never missed 6 months of a season due to forgetting something important.

Didn't he make a mistake against Southampton last week as well?
He was really poor against spurs too. And if he kept his legs shut he wouldn't have deflected one of the spurs goals off his right testickle.
He made a mistake against Gala in the CL too.
Terry has shears been easier to turn than Rio too. Same with Carra. God knows how many goals he saved us by snuffing out attacks at the first opportunity when a striker tried to roll him.

Yeah Ferdinand was one of the best at that, granted but Terry had everything else that Ferdinand didn't have.
I actually think Sol Campbell is the most underrated centre back in the Premier League era. People don't like him very much and like Keane it skews opinion, for some reason.

Yeh Sol was class. For me Ronnie Johnson was the most underrated CB. He was class, but hampered by injuries. Reminded me of McGrath, although not as good. Who is another top CB that people often overlook.

Yeah Johnson was an underrated defender also.
Another player who was underrated and played for United was Sheringham. I absolutely loved watching him play, he was so intelligent. Was raging when he went to United.
Yep he was a great signing for us. Similar to McAllister for you. Both their legs had gone but they were so clever it didn't matter.

I have no problem with Gerrard being in any PL greatest team at all. I have praised and defended him throughout this and other threads. He is one of my favourite CMs and I would gladly have signed him to replace Keane. Even in the comment that made you wet yourself I stated that I rate Gerrard very highly. Which of these words is too difficult for your scouse education to comprehend?
All I said is please don't use that Sky poll as any kind of official poll because it was just four biased guys chatting crap in a room. And I even said "please" so why don't you untwist your knickers, fairy nuts?
And no, my point is not rendered moot, you were just way too thick to understand it.
Do you get it now, moron or do I need to draw you pictures?
