If you spend 120m then you should be challenging for the title IMO

I think we saw the difference between having a Markovic and Sanchez last week. Our first choice was Sanchez but he chose Arsenal and then we are left with potential.
You need a long term plan and you need to stick with it, not panic when you finish outside the top 4 for a couple of years.
A Madrid have proved that money is not the be all and end all of everything

They are only really competing with 2 clubs. as I mentioned above only the top top teams have the consistency.
Atletico have now got a big investor so I am hoping they can challenge the other big 2 for years to come.
Valencia are ahead of Atletico in the table, so they have them and Sevilla who are a top side aswell to compete with, Valencia and Sevilla are much better teams than spurs and Southampton
Ah yes, the London factor. Been the case with a few moves recently. Sanchez... well according to Brendan any way... erm. I'm sure there was more...
is anyone getting bored with the CL finnishing 4th business,i no iam, i dont watch it unless were on,i want to win the FA cup
T Bone, do you happen to listen the The Anfield Wrap Podcasts by any chance?
Allot of what you;re sayin gwas discussed on the one from Monday, and I totally agree, there is a direct correlation between wages and league position, of course there will be exceptions but generally the teams that pay the higher wage bills will finish in the top 4.
It's up to us as a club to try to continue to raise revenue streams and try to unearth good young talent, as fans we need to be patient and have to accept that there are 4 teams better then us in the league, BR then has to show his quality as a manager to get us competing with them.

OP's post sounds similar to something I have made links to. Makes sense to me, anyway.
We have to be satisfied with yo-yoing between CL and EL for a few seasons until we gradually build up the wealth.
Who knows maybe in a year or two we'll be seeing Liverpool (genuine not fake) shirts being worn in places like Abu Dhabi, showing that the marketing of the brand is going well.
By the way, Subway sandwich shops advertise that they're the official Liverpool FC sandwich shop in Abu Dhabi.

No probs mate,i ve been to 4 of them,i just think this obession with 4th is ruining our domestic cup comps.
We shouldn't EXPECT higher than 5th, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't critically review the season.
You have to factor in how well he other clubs are being managed compared to ours, to decide whether it's reasonable to think we could be above them.
It's not JUST about money.
Go back a few weeks and no Liverpool fan would be saying LVG was doing a good job at Man Utd. Out of the cups early, no apparent improvements in performance level, weird tactics and players out of position.
Now whether it be luck (injuries forcing changes), or great management, suddenly they have had 3 vastly improved performances and results to match, with Mata and Herrera making a big impact and Rooney far better up front than in midfield.
In truth I think we badly messed up the first half of the season and should have put them and LVG under a lot more pressure. I don't think he was doing a good job with what they have (and he did have a fair share of injuries in the early months too) but unfortunately Rodgers wasn't doing a good job with we had either until December, when the damage was already done for us.
If we are ultimately to finish 5th or lower this season, then I don't think you can just say 'oh well, we were never going to finish higher anyway'.
I think we could have finished higher. I don't think we have been that bad for injuries all season, and could easily be 6 PTS better off had we not seen some bad management in the first 4 months of the season.

I'm pretty bored of childish idiots like yourself gate crashing decent articles....
FSG can’t pump money into the club for transfers, or the club will breach FFP.

I don't think they could anyway. They are not a cash cow like the Oil teams owners. And you have to remember that Liverpool is not their # 1 priority with regards to sport.

I did Kneerash. I have just been too busy to post about it. I thought what was mentioned was pretty accurate.
I was on the phone to my old man last night and he is a wise old man. He said he was not too unhappy as we expect so much at our club in the current market.
It is more frustrating this year that the other teams around us have been pretty average yet we are getting beat by them.
Our team from last season would of battered Utd and Arsenal this season.

It is not a passion either for them it is business. In the past you could borrow and spend but that is not allowed anymore.
If we finish 5th in the league and no trophy then it is a very poor season
I can honestly say I can count on one hand I have enjoyed watching Liverpool play this season
We have been extremely poor to watch compared to last season

I think your name is on the FA Cup. I have thought that since you scraped past Bolton.
A bit of disappointment given how the teams above us performed as well. We left it too late but also did very well to give us that glimmer of hope. FA Cup win and we're smiling again
Remember 5th isnt guaranteed as well...anybody for a City collapse

I have already stated that we won't have a better chance to win a trophy under Rodgers
