If we finish 5th in the league and no trophy then it is a very poor season
I can honestly say I can count on one hand I have enjoyed watching Liverpool play this season
We have been extremely poor to watch compared to last season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did we not over achieve last season?
I stated it after the draw was made for the QF...do keep up gents and stop burying your heads in the sands
You shouldn't "expect" higher than 5th, cos the competition is tough and it's not a divine right, but you should be disappointed not to make it. Your budget can't match United or the sugar daddy clubs, but you CAN match Arsenal. You're not like Spurs or Everton or Saints who are genuinely miles behind the spending capacity of the current top 4.
I was talking about the style of play this season compared to last
This season we have been very laborious and uninspiring in most of the games I have seen

Care to give us the stats then?

Sheriff we are a couple of years behind Arsenal in terms of revenue. When our owners forst came in they looked at your club and realised that to build a big stadium you need to make sacrifices in other areas.
Our owners know how to sell the club commercially and we will have a much higher revenue when our stadium expansion is complete.

This was taken over the last 3 years. Last season your wage bill was £25m less than Chelsea's. They sold some of their biggest wage earners and you bought an very big wage earner this season.

I have seen your source for this and at the bottom it states the following:
"The above figures were taken from official clubs accounts ended 2013,2014 while the 2015 figures are speculative from sources like guardian.co.uk who publish premier league club finance details every years."

This are the official wage bills:
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9642781/chelseas-wage-bill-rises-to-1631905million-a-year
Your wage stats are total crap. We're higher than Liverpool, but certainly not £180m. Our published wage figure in the latest account is £166m and well lower than Chelsea who you put below us (despite ranking them higher). And again, there's no way in hell our squad costs more than yours. Since the days of Benitez to Kenny to Brendan, you've always been significantly higher transfer spenders.
1. Manchester United - £214.8m.
2. Manchester City - £205m.
3. Chelsea - £190.5m.
4. Arsenal - £166.4m.
Not 100% sure where Liverpool are but they are most likely 5th, most probably with a wage bill of £144m like you said.
Southampton only have a wage bill of £47.1m.

T Bone, do you happen to listen the The Anfield Wrap Podcasts by any chance?
Allot of what you;re sayin gwas discussed on the one from Monday, and I totally agree, there is a direct correlation between wages and league position, of course there will be exceptions but generally the teams that pay the higher wage bills will finish in the top 4.
It's up to us as a club to try to continue to raise revenue streams and try to unearth good young talent, as fans we need to be patient and have to accept that there are 4 teams better then us in the league, BR then has to show his quality as a manager to get us competing with them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did Kneerash. I have just been too busy to post about it. I thought what was mentioned was pretty accurate.
I was on the phone to my old man last night and he is a wise old man. He said he was not too unhappy as we expect so much at our club in the current market.
It is more frustrating this year that the other teams around us have been pretty average yet we are getting beat by them.
Our team from last season would of battered Utd and Arsenal this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They used my opening question on Moday's podcast!
It's hard to argue with any of what they discussed, we are the 5th best side IMO, just slightly better then Spurs, we are where we should be at the moment
OK so the source was not accurate but the positioning is correct. Arsenal in their favourite position 4th and us in 5th.

Liverpool should be doing and should have done way better than Arsenal have. Liverpool are fourth in the total net spend from 2009-2014 with a net spend of £98.05 million compared to Arsenal's -£0.55 million. These figures haven't counted last season but Liverpool would still be higher than Arsenal and Manchester United could have potentially overtaken Chelsea.
