'so many weaknesses.'
Where? Apart from not having a defensive minded CM that team is pretty good if you ask me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where are the weaknesses?
Two full-backs who are defensively poor covered by players who don't even track back.
Most teams would have a field day against that defence, the team would be ripped apart in big matches. It would be like watching AVB's Spurs towards the end in the big games where they just got bullied.
Admin, this is not a wum, if people take offence it's because they're just listening to what the media tell them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you selected such an attacking lineup so of course it will be vulnerable from a defensive viewpoint.
Substitute one or two players for more defensive ones and you have a very good team there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just because some players are 'good' does not mean they weren't overrated- the two terms aren't mutually exclusive.
The facts are that every single one of these players received praise they did not deserve.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not taking issue with that.
What i find astounding is you select an attacking 442 and state the obvious that they will be dragged all over.
Not debating the fact some of those in your lineup at all.

If Chelsea were a team that tried to play football then you'd see his limitations pretty obviously.

Cafu, I will admit should probably not have been included, but I'm struggling to think of other top right-backs who didn't deserve the praise lavished on them and there are very few options.

one I dont agree with is Robert Pires, as I have never even heard of him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Zola looked amazing because the rest of the PL hadn't seen a player like him, in reality he was probably about the 5th/6th best Italian forward of the 90's
I still think Pires had a better season than Giggs ever did but Giggs has the longevity.
I don't think Pires is overrated because I honestly don't think people generally overrating him. He's considered a very good player who for 2 seasons at Arsenal was brilliant.

Well maybe if you made a more balanced side and included a defensive CM that would help. Also Cafu is one of the finest fullbacks ever, just because he's brilliant at bombing forward doesn't mean he offered no defensive game.
All of these players at their peak would pretty much walk into any side in the PL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My point exactly.
Few Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham hooks, baited with a few World Cup winners.
What line are you using brah?
Valencia is overrated. Everyone thinks he's sh-t, he's worse than that.
Philip Lahm? So poor at RB that he was converted into a midfielder yet people have you believe he is the best full back in the world?
Sharticle only carlos deserves to be in the list.
Beckham would win the all time most overated player ever
Pires was never better than 93/94 Giggs, not in this universe or any other
Zola was magic but he wasn't exactly one of the top Italians let alone top compared to everyone else.
He's like Le Tissier in England. Great to watch, had bags of ability, but was well behind his contemporaries and didn't play at the very highest level.
Cafu was fantastic. Overall great team.

Yeah, I'll change it.
Actually one of the first objective comments that didn't just bow to media hype.
Totti
Del Piero
Baggio
Chiesa
Vieri
All superior to Zola in the 90's
Nah Beckham is underrated now.
Brilliant player but people pretend he wasn't.

I would go as far as saying he is actually underrated and he became more famous for his ability off the pitch than on it. Set piece wise and passing, I haven't seen many better than Becks. To say he wasn"t blessed with pace he was a cracking winger.
Mex
Very close but I personally think Pires in the 01/02 season (I think) was better. I saw Arsenal live that season, him and Bergkamp were unreal.

David Beckham wasn't overrated, people just underrated him because they thought he put more attention into his celebrity status than his football career.
That's a valid point, but very few people can cross a ball like Beckham.
