But is anyone claiming Zola is better than any of them?
Zola is always fondly remembered because he was one of the first big names to come to the PL and do really well and is one of Chelsea's best players simply because they don't really have the history clubs like United or Liverpool have.

David Beckham wasn't overrated, people just underrated him because they thought he put more attention into his celebrity status than his football career.
That's a valid point, but very few people can cross a ball like Beckham.

The reason I mention it is that he rarely gets a mention from our fans these days.

Becks had 'Grinta' which was more than any other England player of the last 20 years has had
Ledley King is the most overrated player on the list, I'd say.
At least every other player listed has been brilliant in their own right, despite being overrated, but King was no more than an average prem defender who was occasionally brilliant but never achieved anything to warrant the praise he got.
He had a good Euros and stood out as the only above average defender in a terrible Spurs team, and somehow he's the most talented cb England have had and only injuries stopped him reaching legendary status.

That would be a fair comment if Zola was remembered strictly as a Chelsea legend given that they don't have very many, but he is bracketed as one of the best ever and in my opinion given he isn't even the best Italian forward of his era then it doesn't stack up.
Beckham underrated ive heard it all now. When he played people would go on and on about him. People dont really remember or rate him now coz he was never really that good

No, it's another dig at 'coward' Mourinho.
Zola was easily better than Pippo and Chiesa.

Was he massively praised though? I though the reputation he got was that he was a good reader of the game and because of his f-cked up knees did very well to last as long as he did.
Didn't Henry once say he was the hardest defender to play against? Maybe that increased his reputation?

Totti
Del Piero
Baggio
Chiesa
Vieri
All superior to Zola in the 90's

Thought you were doing another overrated list for a minute
I'd agree King is definitely the most overrated on the list.
All the other players HAVE BEEN GOOD PLAYERS at points in their career- but they were also overrated.
I feel people are attacking my team because they have poor English skills and can't tell the difference between a good player and an overrated player.
Cristiano Ronaldo is overrated if people tell me he's better than Messi- as that's a rating too high for him.
Capiche?
I honestly don't ever recall Zola being labelled 'one of the best ever'.
People just like him a bit more than normal because he looks a bit like a leprechaun.
Zola-Brolin-Tino.
That was great wasn't it 4za?
1982, depends who you listen to I suppose. But his career very much mirrors Wes Brown's, though not as good, but Wes Brown isn't considered among the very best cb's to play in the prem whereas many consider King to be.
Zola was a good player- and ultimately his great personality also makes people remember him fondly- but the truth was there were not only far superior forwards in his era, but also superior Italian forwards. That therefore diminishes his status as among the Premier League's greatest.

Always reminded me of "nik nak" from James bond
Brown didn't have his knee problems though did he? I remember reading King's were so bad he never trained with his team mates but just watched training and swam. That's pretty impressive.
