Hint: United aren't about finishing below Liverpool and getting thrashed by them, drop that train of thought and you'll be less obvious

It's not like Moyes had us paying great football is it?

posted on 9/8/15

Fair play to LVG, his radical decision to play Fellaini as a battering ram worked.

posted on 9/8/15

If only Moyes could have figured out that simple idea, then again if we started threatening finishing above Liverpool you'd probably stop supporting him as well.

Fair enough. Should have paid more attention to your username with my comment.

However being Dutch doesn't make you right. It doesn't make you a great judge of a player. No offence meant by that. Just like being English doesn't with our own players.

I'd make my own mind up if we get him. However I hope we don't too. Rather keep DDG for one more year or persue LLoris before going for him.

However never seen him play other than World cup so not jumping to wild conclusions like many on here.

DDG looked 8 stone wet through when he first arrived at utd. Look what happend to him.

Also plenty said DDG wasn't strong enough for PL football. Turned out to be one of best to ever play in it.

Wouldn't go that far but improved massively since he came and could become a great if he carries on his improvement

You're obsessed with Liverpool. And too much of a moron to accept that Moyes took over during a season where Liverpool were at their best for a long time and had no european distractions to get in their way. It was a perfect storm. I guarantee at least 95% of United fans would accept that our team last season under lvg would still have finished below that Liverpool side.

Anyway, nice deflecting. You bringing up Moyes to defend lvg when the argument is that neither Moyes nor LVG are the best options when managers like Klopp are available.

A few weeks ago you were saying that we played our best football with Fellaini in the team. Now you are using him as a tool to have a go at LVG claiming that he used him as a battering ram. Well which one is it?

In thinking Spurs won't sell Lloris now but if Spurs miss out on CL football again this season then he could start to get itchy feet and that might help next summer.

This is why I think its important to keep hold of DDG and lose him for free next season. Better to lose his transfer fee and bring in the right keeper than rush and get it wrong which would cost us much more.

He's definitely up there with best 10 keepers to have played in PL for me. Last 3 seasons he's been incredible. Even second half of his first season he was very very good too.

Schmeichel, VDS, Seaman, Cech are up at the very top but DDG is definitely in the group just below them. He's a fantastic keeper.

You're missing the point. I'm saying it was a fair decision to play Fellaini there and we did play our best stuff with him in the side. But it's hardly a radical decision to play him there is it. He played there for Everton for years.

Fellaini is a great option. But even I as his biggest fan can accept that the United i grew up watching was not a team built around a fellaini or a team like what we saw yesterday. It was a team with pace and wingers and multiple attempts on goal. We laid siege on the opposition goal.

There seems to be this weird acceptance that to get that exciting again it's gonna take years. It really doesn't have to be that long.

Basically LVG is bad in Robbs view because we aren't Liverpool's biatches anymore, that's the only place he has any consistency in his views.

moyes will never be forgotten as long as fellaini is still at this club

posted on 9/8/15

My mistake, when you said "one of the best ever" I thought you meant top 3 best or something like that

Genuine question. Are you under the age of 15? Because that's the debating level you bring to these articles.

It was radical for Moyes.

Rob's right, though, the football we've been playing under LVG has been shiiiit.

posted on 9/8/15

I've filtered SAF. Can't have him going round telling lies that I'm a Liverpool fan. Doesn't he pay attention. It's Arsenal ffs

On the whole yes, barring that run of games around Xmas where we were on fire

Said on a different thread, LVG will get results but I do find the football he gets his teams to play a bit tedious at times, at least from Alkmaar onwards.

Perhaps Depay might change that though.

Hard to tell! Against City it was great. Not so great against Palace for example.

Look, I see the benefit of playing fellaini more than most. If you ever get bored, go read the tactical reports from the City, Liverpool and Spurs games last season to see just how underrated Fellaini's contributions were. It really wasn't about hoofing and elbows.

But I grew up on Giggs and Kanchelskis. Sharpe was my fave winger ever. That is the kind of football I wanna see but doubt I ever will under LVG. I don't mind a changing of the times but I need to see some kind of sign it will get better.

What run? We won 1 game in the Xmas period.

Pedro should make us a lot more exciting as he's very quick and direct. That's if we get him obviously.

sorry you're right, got my timing wrong, meant the run which started with Spurs

Against us, I'd srguevstrongly it was long ball to fellaini, particularly after he moved onto the fullback rather than Toure. Very effective though.
