Actually it was the injury to Carrick as well as the lack of effort once 4th was secured

Cillesen - Yep said it weeks ago. Plenty of rumours around too back then. Of course I got slated by the usual few for suggesting he would buy Dutch because he knew him and therefore if he rated him would consider him. Still think that one could happen.
Not seen enough of him myself to say whether he is good enough or not.

Pedro should make us a lot more exciting as he's very quick and direct. That's if we get him obviously.
-------------------------

Yep, hopefully. We played some good football in spells last season. Hopefully we can see that more often this season once the players get into the swing and when/if we have Pedro available.

We played terrible football under Moyes, a manager that has never been renowned for exciting football, and Robb argues for giving him time. Yet he is now saying that it shouldn't take time to play attractive football and we shouldn't accept if from LVG.

Fair enough and sorry if I mocked your suggestion but TBF I'm shocked we are supposed interested, he simply isn't good enough and him being chosen largely based on his nationality would be a stupid move by LVG.

Managers will no doubt have good knowledge of players from their own country but that doesn't mean he should go for someone if they are clearly not that good.

I would be genuinely concerned if we end up with Cillesen as our keeper. Add our problems in defence and we will have one unstable back 5.

I don't think you guys understand the simple concept!

In life, people make mistakes. I argued for time for Moyes because saf himself told us to. Remember, we'd just seen the example of saf himself need time in his job before he became a success.

But Moyes didn't get time and that became the new reality of football. Managers don't get time anymore. I supported Moyes but learnt my lesson. Now I am a bit less naive about these things and LVG is someone I don't have faith in.

Do you guys understand that? I supported Moyes but made a mistake. I have learned from my mistake and now aren't as willing to ignore what issues I see.

Surely to most intelligent people that would be the logical deduction to make. I owe nothing to Moyes. And I have nothing against LVG. Had the roles been reversed and LVG been the one who took over from saf and failed I'd have wanted him given time and had Moyes then taken over and been this sterile I'd have wanted him gone.

Seriously, I joke around a lot on this site but what I've written is the most honest you'll ever see me be.

1982 - How much have you seen of him though ?
Remember De Gea, the skinny youngster who arrived and improved immeasurably whilst at OT.
I don't suggest it's just down to his nationality but more so because LVG has worked with him and knows him and seems to rate him.
LVG seems to like going back to players he knows and has worked with.... Blind,Romero,BS,Depay thus far ...
All the speculation about Muller being his no.1 striker target etc... it does seem to make him more comfortable. At Barca didn't he bring in quite a few Dutch too ?

robb - your credibility = 0

Coming from you of all people that's almost hilarious. Like Hannibal Lecter telling a pickpocket to stop breaking the law.

Surely you are not seriously advocating LVG goes now or anytime soon ?
I have faith in him making us competitive and improving us and getting us more points. However I am a little worried we just won't see that much excitement and United fans are brought up on exciting, attacking, swashbuckling football and I just hope we don't get bored to death playing possession football and grinding out results. Though to be honest if that wins us the league then fantastic but I would then expect us to become more expansive

posted on 10/8/15

I'm not saying LVG should be sacked now. But I do see a summer where 3 good managers will be available. If we have another sterile season where boredom is the order of the day it would be disappointing to miss out on one of them.

Sorry Robb, I just don't believe you are a genuine United fan. I have never seen another poster contradict himself so much. The times you do contradict yourself it seems to be when you are trying to undermine the manager/a player or the club etc. Or when you are backing one of the unpopular players. I just can't take you seriously any more.

Can only see him going if we don't get top 4. He will have one last year of his contract remaining to see his project and process out !

I've seen a bit, the WC, Europe and the odd Dutch game as well, never once been impressed.

De Gea came with a great reputation as one of the finest goalkeeping prospects in Europe at the age of 20 after some brilliant performances for Atletico. Cillessen is already 26 with virtually no interest in him from any major club and only 3 full seasons with over 5 league appearances in competitive football in his entire career. I may be wrong but I simply don't rate the guy one bit.

Yes in the past LVG has bought Dutch but that was primarily from his all conquering Ajax side which he had personally built and worked with for many years . The quality available then compared to what there is now is completely different.

Cool story Bro. You are obviously the dumbest guy that ever lived if you came to that conclusion. Kindly filter me if you really are that much of an idiot.

Is it idiot night on here. People so obsessed with labelling people just because they have different viewpoints.

I'm apparently not a genuine United fan because I back Fellaini, Young and Jones and then want players like ADM and DDG sold who don't wanna be at the club.

This site really does attract the type of people who really should be locked up for their own safety.

robb the lesson learned from the moyes tenure is that he was a guy that was completely out of his debth and should never have been given the job in the first place. LVG most certainly isnt out of his debth regardless of his style of play. His reputation along with a fourth place finish last season earns him the right to more time. I dont expect him to be here much beyond his present contract but he will leave us a lot stronger than when he got here the signs are already there.

Yeah, and maybe he will leave us a bit stronger than we were. But it's a completely valid viewpoint to wonder how we could be doing with a more exciting manager.

If the style of play improves then fair enough, people will get off his back. But right now there are some valid worries fans have about the guy.

Roonunited - Completely right.
I would guess that he will go at the end of his three years without winning us the league but maybe getting a runners-up spot. And I would not be at all surprised if Giggs is then given the job

posted on 10/8/15

Yeah, it looks likely that Giggs will be given the job. He interesting to see how different he will be to LVG regarding tactics and style of play. There was a good documentary last year where it showed Giggs as manager. He seemed quite clued up.
