Looks like it the usual rubbish about Liverpool players getting picked for England. If he still played for Villa then they would be saying he had a good match.
Some people just have a chip on their shoulders about Liverpool players getting picked for England.
"Looks like it the usual rubbish about Liverpool players getting picked for England. If he still played for Villa then they would be saying he had a good match"
What utter nonsense.
I tend to find people who need to make things up and state them as a fact, have little point at all.

What a load of balls. You really are paranoid.
Not paranoid at all. How many of you were slating him when he got picked for England before he signed for Liverpool?
Its no wonder we hate England. I remember all you cockneys booing John Barnes as well so its always gone on.
He's come on leaps and bounds since the Boro days.
Back then he was a one trick pony akin to Kevin Kilbane.
He can now play wide left, wide right or through the middle. He's worked on his right foot and his conditioning which is shown by his accelration and pace which, as I remember, he did not have as much of.
He is technically a good footballer with a good touch that rarely gives the ball away.
He is to Nani what Nani is to Ronaldo IMO.

You have a huge chip on your shoulder, and it's a tad embarrassing imo.
I have the same opinion of Downing now as I did last year. If anything, I have slightly more hope for him as an England player now that he's playing under Dalglish.
You sound like you're beyond the point of debate though - stating fiction as fact is obviously something that you feel comfortable with.
Absolute bullshite. You cockneys just dont like seeing Liverpool players being picked for England.
Adam Johnson is twice the player Downing is.
How Downing gets picked for England is one of lifes mysteries

I've been slating him ever since his Boro days. He offers nothing.

Apart from the assist for last nights goal.
>>Looks like it the usual rubbish about Liverpool players getting picked for England. If he still played for Villa then they would be saying he had a good match.
spot on
So if Downing wasnt playing would England have won by a higher margin?
I don't know Knotty they might have won by a bigger margin they might have lost. What I do know is that he was part of a very poor England performance and apart from the goal was amongst the worst performers on the pitch.

Which completely contradicts the ratings he got from the journalists and pundits. But then again theyre all wrong arent they?
Why does it matter what the journalists/pundits have to say? Nobody takes them seriously, if they said anything bad about Downing I doubt you would agree with them would you?
You just seem to be clutching at straws really. Downing had made 35 appearances for England, scored in 0 of them, has made no more than a handful of assists and his general performance in these matches have been poor to average at best all the way from his Boro days to yesterday. Simple as that.
I personally think that Downing is a good player, but last night he played like he always played, slightly above average. I would have him in the England squad definitely, but depending on who we were playing would be whether or not he is in the starting eleven.
I think people take them more seriously than they take you.
35 Appearances
0 Goals
5 Assists
How many of those matches did he start?
redconn and knottyastaxdodger are an embarassment to Liverpool fans on this thread.
Pathetic complex.
I don't know how many he started. I don't really care either. The less the better.
Downing justifying the fee.
