What happens come the end of the season is irrelevant at this stage or indeed in this discussion or my OP and if we finish in top 4 (hope we do) then its not something I would link back to this thread had someone else done it
If anything if we get top 4 with the current squad those agreeing that we have the players should be the ones looking smug
This article is pretty accurate. But I do still think the squad is unbalanced. No surprise given the turnover of managers.
There's a school of thought that we shouldn't be making more signings because we're underachieving with what we have and I don't buy into it.
Regardless of whether it's Mourinho or not that is manager I still think an overhaul of the defence and central midfield will and should happen over the coming transfer windows.
I'm sure if a poll is taken now, most still want him to stay. I'll rephrase, they'll prefer him to stay.
Supporters are frustrated. There is so precious little to hang our hat on. At least our defence was tight with LvG, add Rashford and martial and an fa cup, you can almost forget every horrible, ( and they were a lot) game.
We need something to say in defence of Jose. Can anyone say something? I'll start. Rooney... What else?

The improvement of Hererra and Mata
We managed to getPogba who will be a very important player for us
Were creating far more chances
No more 2 DMs at home to weak sides
We probably will make it out of our European group
We're further in the league cup than we ever were under LVG
The problem can be boiled down to this one statement and in your heart I think you have to agree:
We should have broken the bank and gone for the now Man City manager.

He was always going to City. Their director of football or whatever he is should have been the clue
Robb I disagree. I believe he actually wanted to join us (I have heard a number of different sources confirm this). The issue is that we didn't show him the urgency, respect nor priority to ensure he felt comfortable. This really is the bottom line between where we are now and where we could have been.
But you're positives are all based on theory Robb.
Herrera and Mata have improved. But Smalling, Rashford, Shaw, Blind, even De Gea have regressed.
Yes we got Pogba, but the fact is our results are worse.
And conceding more...
And we look worse at the back for it
Who cares? If you don't win it what's the point?
LVG won a Cup
Pep was much more suited to take over from LVG than Jose.
He is an attacking manager
He hasn't managed our rivals
He has a shred of dignity
Nah, let's go for Jose
No more 2 DMs at home to weak sides
.........
We used to play with virtually everyone camped in the final third.
Busby
Smalling has been out of form since Jan
Shaw is coming back from serious injury
Blind was always a jack of all trades rather than a master of any
Martial and Rashford haven't been great but its common for young players to struggle in their second seasons.

While Jose needs more time, it is worth pointing out that some people in here were adamant that we should have sacked LVG and hired Jose last December - i.e. mid season.
If Jose needs time (which is fair enough) then where was the logic in saying that he should have been appointed mid season? What would that have achieved?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Something I told them all in December.
The only thing LVG did wrong last season in hindsight was leave the squad a couple of players bare. We had our worst even December purely because we were 10 players short (5/6 defenders).
Has we had an average December, we'd of finished top 4 and won a cup....

It was fair enough losing ADM as he wanted to leave. It was fair enough letting Falcao leave and I could even live with selling RVP....but we didn't replace any of these players and that was criminal. Ultimately it cost us.
While having a smaller squad enabled LVG to field more youngsters, he didn't get any thanks for that either...and it wasn't enough to save him.

One other thing this is like our lowest goal tally in premierleague history after 10 games.
I would rather finish mid-table for the next 2 seasons if it means us getting rid of JM.

Considering our defensive record, maybe you should not be pointing at playing two DMs being a problem at the moment.
If we make it out of a group which includes zorya and fenerbache that is no achievement.
Still being in a cup that arsenal and city play kids in ( as they and we should) is scraping the barrel. But sure. I'll give you that.
