Please explain in plain English why Pogba was a desperate signing.

Because we overpaid by about 40m. That's pretty desperate.

Fellini
Mata
ADM
Falcao

We overpaid on all of these deals out of desperation to stop the rot.

300k a week or something daft on a 35yr old. desperate jose

You could add schweinsteiger to that list seeing as LVG didn't realise he wasn't the same player he'd managed years before.

Gary Neville is an absolute caaaant.

It amazes me some of the stuff pundits come out with. Moyes hand was forced and he had to get Fellaini. I would not blame him too much for that.

LvG signed lots of players to actually do what Gary is saying. Some worked, some did not.

Quite stupid comments to make by Gary to be honest considering we overpaid for Bailly and Pogba. Could not develop youngsters and signed a pensioner in Zlatan.

Henrikh is definitely a Utd signing.

We didn't overpay on Pogba.. We paid the exact it took for Juventus to sell us the hottest young midfield talent in football.

We're a massive club. We paid massive money to get one of the best players off one of our European rivals.

We're better off for having him rather than the money sitting in the bank

Not really. Pogba has been with us for a few months. Check back with us in 5 years and we can talk about whether he was a waste of money

posted on 15/11/16

Will be too hard to compare. maybe you could have got two other players for 45 each and won 5 league titles on the bounce. We will never know. Pogba for 90 million was desperate. That was the point in the article. Not 5 years time if it pays off or not

should win a CL in the 5 years and at least 2-3 PL titles, last two times people abused the world transfer record thats been the result .

cant see it with your lot.

he just aint 90m quid worth of footballer.

hes got a good long shot and dabs well

posted on 15/11/16

His long range shooting is actually terrible from what i've seen, anyone got the stats?

Worthy of a flash of brilliance though that's for sure.

Is Pogba a talent that every big club in the world wanted? Yep

Was £89 million the correct and only price in which to get him? Yep.

Even if for arguments sake we were desperate to get him that doesn't have to mean desperate in the connotation you're implying

Jose identified him as a player we very much needed so our money men spent what was needed to get him.

The connotation of 'desperate' in the OP is of a club buying players as a sort of afterthought. Without much rhyme or reason.

We needed Pogba so we bought him..simple as that

Robb Debruyn cost city 54 million last year, Gundagon cost City 25 odd million.

Both players have outplaed Pogba this season.

Pogba isnthe hottest player in terms of shirt selling and image rights but football wise he woudnt get into a top 10 midfielder list.

He has loads of talent, that I dont deny but if the question is he world class or done it consistently to be worth 90 million, I am sure even you Robb know the answer.

Why would you even as that wum Niko to come back after 5 years for a player that cost 90 million If he is world class he does the business now not after 5 years

How am I a wum?

All 4 are good players and pre season everyone was jealous of utds signings. It's not gone terribly well for any of them so far though. Odd time for Gary to be congratulating them.

posted on 15/11/16

Also your midfield is a shambles. Average/slow players with no chemistry.
