It is of no interest to me as we are still cack!!!. Some clubs are doing both very well.
It doesn't have to be of any interest, but it's a vital part of the running of modern day football. Money give you a great chance to get in the players, managers, staff you want that you think can improve your club, a key part of increasing you revenue is to increase your brand identity and that is helped largely by the players you bring in such as Pogba.
Not really because Van Gaal didn't sign that many possession based and technical players. That was probably his problem as a lot of the signings, while good players in their own right, didn't seem to fit the way he wanted to play.

Maybe to a degree. In saying that, I've read Barcelona were very interested in pogba, but when they heard the fee being quoted they distanced themselves. Ferguson was a firm believer that the football market was bonkers, rightly or wrongly he stuck to his principles. Do we now follow the pack like everyone else? How about our identity? How about this clubs principles? Barcelona seem to be doing fine sticking to their principles.
There isn't much point moaning about the Pogba fee until he's finished his career with us.
On the face of it we overpaid for Ferdinand, it was a huge amount at the time, especially for a defender. Does anybody care now?

Spot on.
Barca and their principles are a pile of BS, they're sponsored by Qatar Airways FFS. The game has changed a lot even in the 3 years since Ferguson left. I wish football wasn't all about money but like the rest of the capitalist world it is.

I'm not sure anyone is moaning, merely stating we overpaid. Reg Ferdinand, no, I do not care now. Simple reason being we could've sold him for more whilst he was playing if we wanted, so all in all a cracking investment. Whether we would be able to get 90 million quid for Pogba during his time with us I highly doubt.
I don't think Barca could afford to pay that much money for Pogba, though.

I'm not really sure it is a pile of bs. Read ibra's take on whilst he was there. Players who were at the time the best in the business- Xavi, Iniesta and messi turned up in modest cars. It is a principle that our old gaffer firmly believed in as well. This club is losing its way big time.
Why would you worry about resale value? Surely we want to keep our best players, however much we could sell them for.
I read the other day we pay the highest wages in world football. For me personally, this is farking worrying.
When you see that Adidas give us a ridiculous £750 million just to sponsor our shirt for a while you can see why we spend £90 million on one of their biggest players.
Benefits all parties.

Fair. It was a big fee at the time but not a record fee. Pogba as stated previously does not have to justify his price tag, we are the fools that paid for it. Ultimately, the question would be asked once his playing days are over and I am not sure the price would ever be justified. That's just me.
Barca are a great club but they really do try to make out that they are superior to the rest which is nonsense. They're trying to do exactly what we are in terms of the financial side and are probably hugely frustrated that their domestic TV revenue doesn't compare.
Just because Xavi and Iniesta drive modest cars doesn't really mean much, I doubt Neymar does and just look what's happening to Messi's hair and tatts he looks ridiculous. It's just a part of modern day football and it effects all clubs.
There are plenty of sides with great history and some level of principle, but they all do what they do for the money and to win trophies.
