Bob Dylan couldn't sing, Catherine Stevens very much could. If you think he couldn't I'd suggest listening to Father and Son again as it isn't sung by a guy who can't sing.

Cat Stevens' voice is more suited to it. When you listen you feel like there is a real conversation going on between a father and son. You don't feel that with Ronan Keating so I'll have to disagree with you there.

I also find it strange that he would use that song to prove his vocal excellence. Like you say it proves how well he writes but his vocals are much better on other songs.

I love how Cat Stevens sings, as I do Bob Dylan but there are much better vocalists, most of whom I don't like. For me it's about the whole package not just vocals which is why they are two of my favourite artists.

If anything that song proves Reds point. It's a great song with great lyrics but Cat Stevens voice lets it down and has been sung far better by others
