Shooter Cruz used an armalite, the weapon of choice for the ra.
SF shops sell armalite badges with "chucky ar la" on them, even today.

I can see SF lecture Trump on gun control, with No sense of irony!!!!!

Nice😎

Won’t happen, or at least not sufficiently, unless there’s a seismic change in the political landscape.
A lot of congressmen will have to climb out of the NRA’s pocket, first.

A good thread on gun control. Makes some interesting points:

AS much as I abore Trump he's played a wee bit of a blinder asking or inviting those students to The White House kinda heading a movement off at the pass before it gets a chance to grow

I guess they just needed a few armed math teachers."

The answer is clearly more guns.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course it is the same as if there's a fire throw petrol on it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you mass dumped 50 billion gallons of petrol on a match, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't ignite.

Maybe gun ownership on that sort of scale would do the trick.

Yes, why not hope for the best?
There is a direct, and provable correlation between the number of guns in circulation and the number of gun-deaths, so the idea that the correlation would be broken at some indeterminate point in the future because good people with guns would start getting control over bad people with guns, like in the movies, has the smell of fruitcake fantasy about it.

It’s possible there would be more shoot-outs (which the average gun-toting dingbat would probably find even more attractive, and would plan accordingly for), but I suspect it would lead to higher death-tolls, not fewer.

Law-enforcers who carry guns are highly-trained, and are obliged to keep up their training with constant practice: we’re going to demand that of geography teachers? (If I were in their shoes, I’d want an awful lot of money for taking on that responsibility, in addition to my teaching duties).

The available evidence doesn’t support the theory, so the idea of trying it anyway, on the highly speculative premise that the change in circumstances would lead to a desirable outcome that nobody’s ever tested, is a bit loopy.

And, forgive my cynicism, but it's difficult not to entertain the suspicion that most of the people who think that's the most reliable route to a solution, are getting campaign contributions from the NRA.

I don't think you fully understood the scale.

Well, on the question of scale, I don't understand why the argument that "it's not the guns, it's the people using them" doesn't apply to tactical nuclear weapons.

It's only a question of scale

Yes, it’s a puzzler. The Donald seems pretty confident he can find a solution where violence is perpetrated by Muslim extremists, but if it’s perpetrated by anybody else, it’s a real head-scratcher.

The only possible response is a shrug of the shoulders.
