Lampard/Gerrard at 23 vs Pogba

I don't know who was the'best' but I do know quoting what medals they have is meaningless. Neither Pogba nor Gérard won any of those cups or titles, their respective teams did. It's why many United players have had more medals than Gérard, it's because they played under SAF, therefore a better manager and team. No stats will ever prove who is better.

Half of those 57 are derenders.

Did you see the bit where he had more touches than Dele Alli? Or ManÄ—? Or Siggurdsson.

Not credible.

C'mon, man! Those are attacking players. They don't get the ball as much as CM players. You'd be better off comparing Wijnaldum with the likes of Dembele, Matic, Xhaka, Ramsey, Cazorla, Pogba, Ander, Silva etc.

Not making up as I go along at all, I've thought this for a while

So you're saying Lallana is the 2nd deepest CM? Come on now

Anyway, if the Liverpool manager and board hold Wijnaldum in the same view that you do that's great, it means he won't buy an upgrade
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No I'm saying Wijnaldum is often the furthest forward which I why I wrote that. He was yesterday when he scored not doing it against the lower sides vs Burnley.

What view do I hold? That saying Wijnaldum barely touches the ball is bollox? I'm sure they do tbh.

You know I've just checked and this started because someone said Pogba has had a similar season to Wij in the Prem to which you said Wij was the weak link and it's about perception. Turns out Wij has a better passing percentage, more goals and more assists in less games despite barely touching the ball. He's only 18 months older so hopefully he can go on to eclipse Iniesta.

I think it is the price tag that weighs him down.

I do not see one of the leagues best midfielders, let alone the most expensive player in the world.

Pogba should not be too immune of criticism despite playing away from this country he had been here he had experienced it previously. He should not need to much adjusting to the league. I dont think it should be see next season, we should be seeing results right now.

I just do not think he is as good as the hype around him haircuts, fashion all that stuff.

Saying that nobody thought fat frank would be as good as he turned out to be......so maybe pogba will become as good.

That would be a simplistic way to look at it. Looking through these stats (http://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/opta-stats/player-comparison), it's clear Pogba creates far more (more risky passers would tend to have lower pass completion) regardless of the misleading assists stats. He also wins over double the duels as he's better and stronger on the ball.

Does he win many aerial duels? He looks suspect when trying to help out his back 4 for defend set pieces

posted on 13/3/17

Yes I know. Look Wijnaldum is not better at football than Pogba and I've never said he was.

However due to price tag and hype Pogba has had a bit of criticism. It's not even loads. Fact is he probably deserves a bit. I'm not sure it's even about end product.

Do you feel he is leaving everything out on the pitch?

One comment about Wijnaldum and he's gone on the defensive

I'll ask this Robbing.

What is the reasons for Liverpool's problems against lower placed teams, and where should Liverpool upgrade next season in the front six positions?

Gerrard was a much better player than Pogba at the same age (23).

And I don't like Gerrard one bit.

You got that the wrong way round bro.

Again erroneous. I simply put "oh dear" because it shows a laughable lack of knowledge. It does. Amusingly you then went on the defensive.

Interesting about Winjaldum, I have to say I think he has had a good few months but I guess he doesn't get involved in the build up play a great deal then.

He is certainly not the best technical header, but his sheer size and athleticism makes him a "presence" in the air.

Robbing does get overly defensive. I still remember an article where I said Sturridge had been poor earlier in the season, something even Liverpool fans would mostly admit, and he just wouldn't hear of it. We had a pretty long, protracted argument about what I thought was fairly evident.

Doesn't change the reality that pogba has achieved far more by 23 than Gerrard did.

It's harder to ascertain how good a CM has been

It's an area where stats are quite useful because at the very least the people finding out the stats are watching the things a lot of fans seem to ignore while they're looking at the strikers instead

Ask yourself this.

Will Pogba get in any if the teams of the year?

What is Liverpool's problems vs the weaker teams?

Who should Liverpool improve on within their front 6?

posted on 13/3/17

The problem has been missing first team players. I suspect the board will bring in competition for Mane, Coutinho, probaby a striker and a deep lying play maker with a range of passing as we miss Henderson when he is out.

You see if they don't as well.

posted on 13/3/17

I'd also like to add we don't have any more of a problem against weaker teams than any others bar Chelsea. Have you seen Utd's home record? All those touches too.

Well imo - and remember I'm just stating my opinion, not attacking your players - is that you need a creative midfielder alongside Henderson, to help you to create more against the lower teams. Then Wijnaldum can compete with Lallana further forward

You've lost at least 3 against lower teams. We - Spurs - have lost 0
