Stretty do you agree your words may have a consequence?

Stretty is an imbecile.

We don't agree on much VC but I'm with you on this, it's like talking to an ignorant wall

As far as I can see its ok to take the P1ss if someone is ginger or fat but not if they are black or gay.
=========================================================
Well, it's equally boorish and unfunny, so I personally wouldn't do it, but it doesn't carry the same baggage of a stereotype used in the service of oppression, no, so well done for spotting the difference.

By 'oppression' I mean putting people in chains to buy and sell them, hanging them from trees, that sort of thing....but more recently, excluding them from jobs and places to live, shooting them if they look a bit suspicious, etc.

These things have never happened to fat or ginger people (at least not on the grounds of how they look), so you're right, it's only boorish and unfunny, rather than politically oppressive.

I think what some people are missing here is that he didnt just mimick her accent, he used a carribean one to talk to someone of Nigerian descent just because she was black.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Conjecture. You do not know he used it just to a black person, it may have been an accent he put on regularly to all audiences.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of all nationalities?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the England camp one would assume it was mainly to British people! But in his social life I wouldn't be surprised if he put on a Jamaican accent to his white, Welsh friends as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Best of luck to him with that defence
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he uses it to all people how can it be discrimination against Aluko? If anything, he would be discriminating against Aluko if he used the accent in front of all people except Aluko.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah I can see where you're going with this.

Hey look if he uses that accent all the time then he has more pressing issues to be concerned about than this I'd suggest.

DJ do you really think he just walks around doing a bad Jamacian accent to everybody?

I dare any one of you who says this isn't racist or if I'm being 'sensitive', to go up to the Indian guy at your work, and talk to him in an Indian accent for a prolonged period of time
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All depends on the relationship you have with the person.

What if an Indian guy spoke to you in a very British accent....go running off to the authorities would you?

People need to be grown up. If I perceived someone to be mocking me then I would say please stop. If it continued then fair play, they've gone past a misjudgment and there might be something more malicious behind their actions.

If i greet an australian work mate with G'day, in my best oz accent...same situation? Would i expect to be hauled in front of my bosses?

I dont think we can go through life treading on eggshells and being overly precious about stuff. Harmless light hearted intentions may not be well received which which case this should be made clear. Then everyone knows where you stand.

Yes. A lot of people do. It is one of the more common accents people do.

You came on and spouted that what was need was some kind of common sense and gave 4 "reasons" as to what you think might be the case.

What this thread needs is a voice of reason.

Unfortunately you have got me.

..............

The bit above is tongue in cheek. Only a humourless couldn't see that.

.........................

What this is, is:-

1. Stupid

2. Very insulting

3. Condesending

4. Ignorant.

....................

Pay attention to the words 'what this is' They mean exactly that.

What this isn't is racist. I can understand why some think it is and that is down to being brought up in this PC culture where offence is found under every single stone.

I read the article and the girl in question isn't claiming it as racist either.

................

Above is the only reasoning I gave. if you have an issue with that, then I don't care. If you don't think the world has gone PC mad then you are an idiot.

Who on here would tolerate being talked to like that by a member of their management team?

Say you don't have a friendly relationship with them, just a professional one, and this person just spoke to you in a bad version of your accent, would you tolerate it when you don't find it funny?

Now having said that a simple "don't speak to me like that" would put it to bed very quickly but maybe the player didn't feel she could do this, it's impossible to really know how it made her feel.

It's a childish and silly thing to do. I imagine he thought it was funny but it was one of those jokes that would only amuse him.

What if he only used that accent to the black members of the squad? Would that still be classed as 'banter' or a racist incident?

And that is what they have to find out. The evidence we have is far from enough to make a judgement.

What on earth are you blabbering about?

I've merely stated the legal side of things. I've not once given a personal opinion on any of this so the fact you're trying to cover all the bases in second guessing what I think just clearly demonstrates you haven't even bothered to read what I've written.

You're a bit of a condescending rse aren't you? No idea why but hey ho. Of course anyone understands the words you've written. to suggest otherwise and spout "read carefully" is well, just breathtaking . Who the fwck do you think you're conversing with?

I've no issues with what you wrote. I even agreed with it but again you didn't bother your rse to read that either did you?

It doesn't matter what you think "it is". The investigation will decide that. Not you, regardless of how important you think you sound. You clearly don't know or understand the law. You clearly haven't read so the only issue here is that you've been challenged back for jumping in with two massive feet and one wide open gob.

You have no idea what I think about the world going PC mad but if you believe that "abuse" in the workplace is somehow associated with that then you are the idiot here.

And you seem to want to keep coming back for more and more a bit too often for someone who says they don't care.

You are a one that's for sure.

Its all about levels.

I think you can be guilty of making a politically incorrect joke/remark about a black or gay person without being a racist or homophobe but many folk think if you do so you are on a par with Hitler.

That said putting on a Carribean voice to a black footballer in this day and age is beyond stupid. It sounds like a scene from Love thy neighbour.

Totally agree but, and I say it again; employers are legally bound to investigate any possible or potential areas of discrimination in the workplace whether the "victim" makes a complaint or not.

You have to be able to use a bit of savvy in knowing when you can say something around certain people. You can't start putting on a Jamaican accent to everyone and expect them all to be happy with it, just because in your own social life you and your friends find it hilarious.

VC, bang on. I have read some pretty stupid comments here today my word. You cannot just go to people and say things and try to classify it as "banter." At my work place, there are some people I feel comfortable doing this with and others not. I am all for there are a lot of people playing this race card these days, however, in this instance here, this is everything you have mentioned above.

My word. She was paid handsomely to say something she did not feel comfortable saying. She decided instead to bring the corrupt FA to answer for their wrong doings- something I believe call integrity

posted on 20/10/17

From what I read here (http://bbc.in/2gTpmPf) it appears that Kendall after only a month in the job as goalkeeping coach developed a very negative opinion of striker Aluko.

She became aware of the inflammatory statements towards her after watching video clips of training sessions.

So the guy didn't even have the balls to call her lazy or use 'industrial language' to her face, he was talking about her to another coach.

If she's helped lead to the fall of the FA then she should be treated as a national hero.
