There is a debate to be had whether Russian money infiltrated the Brexit campaign and helped to divide Europe in readiness for something like today.
(And no, that’s it an anti right wing thing as I’m sure plenty of people on the right didn’t want Brexit).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think there is that much of a debate. Russian money is supporting anything that causes division in the West. They were organising BLM marches and whatever the counter thing was on the same days, through fake Facebook accounts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know it sounds trivial but on TikTok the vast amount of pro Russian comments on all manner of videos is scary. Shaping the minds of young people on the most popular social media app.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the same on Reddit too.
Helps that once a few people start to repeat the disinformation then it becomes "fact" to an awful lot.
Also helps when you have media figures in the West who are happy to do Russia's bidding for the right price.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Add to that the ‘boy who cried wolf’ effect with the lies about going into Iraq pm trust in the west is at an all time low. Perfect conditions for Russia to do what they’re doing.

A reminder that Ukraine gave up its Soviet-era nukes in the 90s in exchange for safety guarantees, including from Russia. Such betrayal.

Sane response to Ukraine conflict: We should sanction Russia, rearm and reinvest our military and defence and push towards energy independence with a combo of vast renewable expansion and maximising domestic fossil fuels.
Insane response: Let's enter a hot war with a nuclear power by threatening Russia with boots on the ground.

I suggested the threat of war if Russia took Kyiv. Which would hopefully be enough to get him to back down but I think it’s too late for that now. The best that can happen is to bolster NATO and put them on a state of full readiness for if/when Russia moves towards Estonia/Latvia etc as they are NATO partners and Russia needs to see the West will react to any further imperialist desires.

So when BMCL said peacekeepers he meant a hot war with a nuclear power as suggested by NPE.

A lot of people did..
Now Ukrainians are losing their sovreign rights.
If Donbass wanted to join Russia, it should have sought to do so democratically.
If they had held a public referendum, and the results went the way of Russia id agree we need to step off, but they didn't and they haven't.
The west needs to bring every sanction to bear until the areas of the Ukraine are returned. Then there can be a UN Led chance for the people of the region to decide their own fates.

Insane response: Let's enter a hot war with a nuclear power by threatening Russia with boots on the ground.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a weird take on things. Can’t recall seeing any on here saying boots on the ground from U.K. troops.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Robb suggested war with Russia yesterday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
BMCL, said peacekeepers today. Fields showing his reading to be what we all knew.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So when BMCL said peacekeepers he meant a hot war with a nuclear power as suggested by NPE.
Just Shoot showing his intelligence, or lack of, for what we all know it to be

Sane response to Ukraine conflict: We should sanction Russia, rearm and reinvest our military and defence and push towards energy independence with a combo of vast renewable expansion and maximising domestic fossil fuels.

Russia won't ever go for a NATO country
You don't get Putin's intentions tbh

Hard to distinguish between the threat of war and actually advocating it for some it seems

It would seem you don’t as you kept saying he wouldn’t invade Ukraine.
