Boris to deliver a pre recorded statement at 11am
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder if he recorded two different statements and had to decide which one he’d use depending on what happened.

There is a debate to be had whether Russian money infiltrated the Brexit campaign and helped to divide Europe in readiness for something like today.

(And no, that’s it an anti right wing thing as I’m sure plenty of people on the right didn’t want Brexit).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think there is that much of a debate. Russian money is supporting anything that causes division in the West. They were organising BLM marches and whatever the counter thing was on the same days, through fake Facebook accounts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I know it sounds trivial but on TikTok the vast amount of pro Russian comments on all manner of videos is scary. Shaping the minds of young people on the most popular social media app.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are two if not three accounts on here. It's impressive if not a bit frightening the scale of the operation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you able to ban them or do they just keep coming back?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll ban them if they post homophobic content, but prefer to keep an eye on them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting. Obviously keeping an eye on the football opinion for the CL final. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Morning all. Depressing stuff from Ukraine.

In regard to Russian influence (Brexit) it's well known Russian active measures have been used all across western democracies.

In the US, the Senate foreign relations committee found that Russian money had been directed "with insufficient scrutiny to various UK political actors”

“Investigative journalists have also raised questions about the sources of sudden and possibly illicit wealth that may have been directed to support the Brexit ‘Leave’ campaign.”

The committee were also critical of Farage (page 117) and UKip in "fanning anti-EU sentiment, criticism of the European sanctions on Russia, and flattering assessments of Russian President Putin as well as far left wing views as conducive to alignment with Russia’s anti-EU and NATO-skeptic positions."

One is hilariously obvious, to the extent that it is predictable. Coincidentally reappeared this week after a little hiatus.

I wouldn’t put money on any others, but all-seeing Admin I’m sure knows more than the rest of us
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When you say “on here” admin, are you able to exercise discretion to remove them? And does on here mean on JA or on this thread?

The book “democracy for sale” goes into a lot of it in fairly painstaking detail and I imagine was part of the reference to “investigative journalists” above.

We'll find out how much of a Russian stooge in the pocket of the Conservative party 'donors' our PM is soon enough.

I've actually got code on the site that blocks Russia and China in entirety en masse should we get funny business from St Petersburg. It occasionally gets triggered.

Weak response to the independent states announcement has allowed this conflict.. and still we sit inactive.

A Russia with Ukraine's resources becomes a far scarier prospect..

Ironic that those posters who use phrase like flagsh@ggers and show disdain for patriotic people are the first to send them to conflict.

It's the same on Reddit too.

Helps that once a few people start to repeat the disinformation then it becomes "fact" to an awful lot.

Also helps when you have media figures in the West who are happy to do Russia's bidding for the right price.
