It's funny I'm being lumped in re: clashes with TBAB etc.
I filtered the contrarian russian apologist 3 days ago, and have only mentioned him twice in that time.. both today.
Tries too hard to be a contrarian instead of having an opinion, and needs to have things explained to him repeatedly before he will listen.
That alone suggests he's highly receptive to misinformation campaigns (throw enough mud etc) as it's repetition that gets through to him.
I will generally not mind reading his posts, but on this subject, him and peks have been making pretty disgusting posts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You filtered him but only mentioned him twice ๐
What has he said that is “disgusting”, do not paraphrase or straw man, use exact quotes. You have a tendency to add or remove parts of what people have said that completely change the meaning of their posts. You & Rosso both did the same a week or so ago and you did the same to me also.
Perhaps the direct quotes won’t be “disgusting”? Perhaps they will, we’ll find out.
Robb said something the other day and NPE replied questioning why Robb hadn’t called it ‘horrifying or scary etc’ (I am paraphrasing) and Robb replied ‘it goes without saying’; I agree with Robb in this regard.
I don’t think it’s a problem to discuss the possible motivations that Putin has. Kyiv for example has a strong cultural link for Russians (I’m no expert) I believe religion comes into it and it was a much bigger city than Moscow used to be.
Clearly Putin is a twisted man who is looking to be remembered in history. During his time the Russian approval rating for Stalin has risen to 70%, which is bonkers.
Anyway, I look forward to reading what TBAB specifically wrote which was disgusting. Peks is another guy and has some strange opinions but each to their own.
Even if TBAB is wrong, you don’t all need to jump on him like a bunch of jackals and labelling him like you have.
I doubt any of you think that TBAB supports Putin by any means so why pile in? It’s quite pathetic to see tbh (not singularly aimed at you Insert) but we saw the same with the Sadiq Khan debate where he was described as crap and that escalated into a complete farce. I was complicit in allowing you all to do it by even entertaining the discussion but that’s something for me to remedy going forward.

Not being deliberately argumentative with you tbab (for once) but you're trying to rewrite your post history.
Yes you didn't want UK/US boots on the ground (nobody did) but framed it around the futility of NATO, weak Biden, that the Russian speakers in Donbass had the right to protection, Ukranian artillary bombardments of that area, the Ukranian neo narrzis, all Putin talking points.
I think most people are being very deliberate in separating Russians from their leadership and if it is true that we don't hear from ordinary Russians that's probably because it's incredibly risky for them to speak out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Repost and waiting for where the words were twisted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
With respect, I will make this last post on the topic..and thank fek I finished a job yesterday as nowt done today, lol.
I preface these replies with saying Stop Putin, in case anything I say is twisted to align me with the maniac.
I do not think NATO is futile, but ex NATO generals said NATO should be in Ukraine and we had let Putin run free in Syria and Crimea and western eyes were taken off Putin's ball, as was spending on NATO and western defences.
I am not anti NATO, unlike some on far left and far right.
I do think the Russian minority in Ukraine have to be heard and considered too in this, but not an excuse to give Putin...and as posted, ethnic Russian, who make up a population of more than Scotland in Ukraine, have anti-Putin feelings too, while being Russian in language, culture etc.
Biden is not a good leader, imo, but has done better than expected recently, even though the Afghanistan debacle and other American foreign policy interventions and failures has sent out weak messages globally. This does not equate to go Putin, exploit that and take Ukraine.
I am NOT going back down the rabbit hole of the stiff right arm brigade, as Stated before and last night, because it has been done to death and could be used by bots and Putin for denatzification propaganda, so I am not going there anymore.
Stand with Ukraine and fek Putin. ...and hopefully peace talks and sensible heads prevail asap.

They should join NATO but I guess NATO are unwilling to go to war for Ukraine
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They can't just decide to join NATO unilaterally, and if they decided to 'apply' today, it might be years before they could join, because:
1. Countries have to be invited to join, and to be invited, there has to be a unanimous decision across all member states to do so. Every country in NATO would have to agree to accession. This would probably be an issue for Ukraine as several countries, including UK, France and Germany, have expressed reservations previously about Ukraine joining.
2. Assuming NATO members were all persuaded, then they'd need a Membership Action Plan (MAP) which set out a potential course to NATO membership. They'd need to meet a bunch of criteria to demonstrate they'd be suitable members. Some countries given MAPs have waited many, many years before being judged fit to join. Georgia first applied for a MAP in 2013, and still *hasn't even received one yet*, despite most NATO members being sympathetic to its future accession.
3. Even if conditions 1&2 were met, which might be years away, according to US analysis, Ukraine would not meet at least one of the entry criteria, including the need to have an established, stable and robust democratic system in place. Ukraine is likely too new and unstable a democracy to be considered immediately.
TL;DR
Ukraine isn't joining NATO anytime soon, whether it 'applies' or otherwise.

Possibly because you call me a Russian apologist and twist my words, now saying a school was bombed, perhaps because they were natzis, which is standard you point scoring and sick.
You said you thought Russia would not invade, and one reason was western troop deployment and sanctions, on your own echo chamber Current events thread and filtered me after I pointed out your hypocrisy,
And then when Putin invaded, played told you so and attacked other posters, then made it bash a Tory over sanctions.
