Expectation among Tory rebels is that at 5pm — in 15 minutes — the committee's exec will announce to the rest of the Tory parliamentary party that the rules have changed to allow another confidence vote, that the letters are already in and that a fresh vote will be held on Monday

So he should go tonight then if the writing on the wall is that clear.
Unless it impacts his pension by resigning.

I mean losing an actual general election and denying reality vs the Tory party gangbanging you - not quite the same
BREAKING The 1922 committee executive has met and decided not to change the rules to allow a second no confidence vote in Boris Johnson.
Instead 1922 executive elections will be held on Monday 2pm to 4pm.
All 18 places on the executive will be up for grabs. Proxy votes allowed.

Ffs wanted a new vote
This is brilliant drama today Hope Boris just leaves but calls an election, he should say fack it you want me to leave after winning you your highest majority for decades then I’ll take you all down with me and go for an election. Or let’s do an election and if we lose then I’ll go

I imagine They’ll likely say tonight if he doesn’t resign or walk tonight or tomorrow then they’ll change the rules have a new vote and vote him out.
Interesting if Boris just takes it or calls a election and takes everyone down with him. He said before he’s a Tory from politics but not a Tory in blood e.g he’s himself over party not the other way round, so doubt he cares less if they lose a general election if he’s got to go anyway he’d likely resign from politics in general
Thing is who would even be next PM or go for it? I imagine Javid, Truss, Rishi, Nadim, Gove, Hunt, Baker maybe Raab?
They’re all a “bit liked” but not overly liked. So fack knows who wins the leadership vote
And can’t see any of the above actually winning an election
I’d probably pick Nadim or Baker. But again don’t feel either would win an election both lack charisma although I guess they would be going up against Starmer who is equally dull

Who does have charisma though in the party? Gove has a bit but I hate him more than Boris 🤣
Raab is my dark horse pick
Literally cant pick a favourite though, Rishi maybe
Chap on the radio just said a poll of the party membership favours current defence secretary, Ben Wallace.

Bit too early really to pick favourites
And its more down to courting specific sections of the party and cutting deals then how you fare in party polls

Plus a lot of people from the cabinet will be tarnished, although Rishi and Javid would have some credit back from resigning but they only resigned after Pincher, not because of anything else. So they still look bad
Think it has to be like a Hunt or quiet minister like Wallace
Surely there’s too much dirt on Gove with his partying drugs and probably noncing
The thing is, Boris ironically is still the best chance of the Tories winning the next election and the only chance in my opinion despite eveything he’s still the best and probably most popular to the public option they have
Really is a weird situation them all stabbing him in the back like with May to get him out as all they’re doing is handing a Labour/Lib Dem and maybe Green coalition the gates to #10 in a year or two
