I don't get the objections to photo ID's for voting.
It's much harder to get a physical 'Proof of Address' letter these days.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The issues are calming to solve a problem which does not exist and will disenfranchise people, particularly the less well off (who by shear coincidence are less likely to vote Tory)

Are they charging for the ID? Do you need ID to rent or get Universal Credit? Do you need ID to buy alcohol (for younger people)? Do you need ID to travel abroad? Do you need ID to get a bank account? Do you need ID to get a job?
If it’s free, I don’t think it’s the problem that the outraged make out.
I also don’t think there is a voter fraud problem but I have no issue with further ID as long as it’s ‘free’

Plenty of less well off folk voted Tory at the last GE hence the 80 majority.
I think the turnout will be significantly down at the next GE if people have to show ID. Those who have to be practically dragged to the polling station will have an extra bit of aggravation that they can use as an excuse not to bother.

You need proof of address to get the ID most likely.
You'll probably also need access to a computer or to fill out forms to get the ID. The photos you need to supply for the ID most likely aren't free either.
It will disproportionately affect those who are disadvantaged in some way.
It will be interesting to see how many of the whingers will still be happy to endure the chaos at our airports this Summer when they're up against grumpy Border Force officials and faulty Biometric machines.
