“ How many European Countries require government-issued photo ID to vote?”

Well in that case….

How many are surprised to see those who argued for Brexit on here till they were blue in the face now saying ‘yeah but they do it in European countries’

Other things they also do, freedom of movement etc

Appreciate Pranks will struggle with this one, but voting ID is another case of 'what problem are you solving'?

There are a miniscule number of occasions where voter fraud has been identified.

On the flip side, we now know (unless something changes, quickly) that compulsory vote ID, will lead to thousands of people who previously could vote, not being able to vote, come the day.

Why would be look to solve a non-problem with tax payer money that has harmful effects on voting numbers?

Why would you spend money and accept problems caused with a policy that achieves next to nothing?

Please explain why money should be spent on a scheme which delivers zero benefits (let alone a net benefit) to society, and is only liable, based on all the evidence available to us, to harm democratic enfranchisement.

"Tbf tax contributions have been spend on far worse ideas"😃

That's alright then, but, shouldn't we be clamping down on crap idea spending?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i didn't say it was a carp idea you did.

What do you have against folk confirming who they are
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing, I haven't needed to do it before and I dont understand why I need it now. I'm not easily swayed by nonsense though.

Nailed on 1.01 that Pranks is also a supporter of licenses for absolutely everything - riding a bike, owning a dog etc.

Who cares how much it costs?

Who cares whether it fixes anything?

It seems like a good idea, so lets do it.

As I've mentioned above, the majority of our euorpean neighbours all have it.

It's not really much of a controversy.
