Stopping In-Work Benefits, which are basically subsidies to big corporations like Uber, would save more money than targetting pensioners.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And would also fack over millions of people and their kids
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, it would force wealthy companies to pay the Living Wage out of their own pockets rather than using government subsidies
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And with a snap their fingers companies will instantly pay their staff more if the govt take away benefits
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they want to continue, then yes.

We’re not not talking about small companies trying to expand here, it big firms like Tesco or multinationals like Uber that take full advantage.

They aren’t campaigning on a mandate to address the problem because people are apathetic or facking mental and bootlick billionaires and corporations.
========
Corporations and billionaires control the narrative and that's how they have people like Gingernuts voting against their own self interests in backing Brexit and the Tories.

Their propaganda nailed the weak minded, like Gingernuts, and they cheered on Brexit and the Tories as they facked the country and made the rich richer.

Why did he accept all this? Because they promised to stop the boats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If I may respond to that final paragraph. Whilst I don’t know what Ginge did or did not vote for, let alone the reasons (and I doubt that you know either Mamba), I highly doubt he is the first or last person to vote for something that was promised but not delivered by a politician. In fact, I’d say that is commonplace given how sheetty politicians are at delivering what they say they will. And that’s not even the last 20 odd years, this premise has been demonstrable for much longer, almost boringly so…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, that doesn't change or affect anything I said.

Ginge - I don’t know why you bother mate. You won’t get any reasoned debate.

Take Amazon - “ oh they pay no tax they’re horrible” etc etc

No mention nor understanding of the consequential taxes paid by employees, millions of businesses and employees, only focus on the top corporations.

Same thing with subsidies, minimum wages et cetera: so much confidence from them, so little knowledge or really life experience.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So because Amazon's employees and linked businesses pay tax it's OK for Amazon not to pay tax.

Fack me. I'd forgotten the genius on this thread. Thanks for the reminder.

And Ginge doesn’t come across as anything like weak-minded. That’s just a poor insult similar to what you often come out with to anyone that disagrees with you or generally has opposing viewpoints to you.

Person B thinks differently to me - weak-minded

I agree he's not weak-minded. I used the wrong word. He's just so susceptible to propaganda around culture, immigration and race that he voted to hurt and damage the country and watched for 14 years as everything went to sheet and was willing to suffer the consequences so long as they stop the boats.

Wish he'd repeat his little speeches about black people in London during BLM. Wanted to take back rrrr country and said we weren't patriotic, now he's making excuses for rich people who don't pay tax fairly and saying it's OK so long as it's legal. Facking joke and he shouldn't be allowed to just chameleon his way around debates. Stick to your true colours you hypocrite.

The UK's public sector debt has hit 100% of the value of the country's annual economic output for the first time since the 1960s, according to official figures released ahead of the chancellor's maiden budget.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said, in a preliminary estimate, that the figure had risen from the 99.3% figure recorded the previous month.

Petty and bitter little individual and a coward at that by posting insults and untruths behind my back when he knows they’re not being seen by me.

You have me filtered because I wouldn't let you pretend to be some reasonable type. You're a bottom of the barrel, bitter and full of bile Tory trying to chameleon your way out of racism, xenophobia and all the disgusting sheet you backed and made excuses for for 14 years. You weren't the only one but you were the worst and the most unremorseful and hard headed mo-4 on here. None of the others have the audacity to still show their faces here anymore except you.

Where are you now? Tories still let in record number of immigrants. You got nothing in return for all that hate and the bonus of the country bring in it's knees.

Stick to what you backed so vehemently for 14 years. Such strong views cannot just change because Tories lost the election. You know what you are.

Chomsky has a fantastic analysis ultimately explaining why it’s *impossible* for politicians in the mainstream political parties of modern Western democracies to be honest with their electorates.

The lecture covers the various aspects of the long answer; the short answer is money in politics.

I’ll try to dig that out too

This is one such example, when politicians discuss, debate, and act with dignity. I wish Trump would just stop his campaign and step aside. It is obvious he's still doing this to stay out of legal issues.

The American realist political scientist John Mearsheimer has also done *a lot* of interesting work on why politicians lie.

I don’t agree with all of his conclusions (whilst recognising the weight of their worth - he’s spent half a career researching the subject), but I’d very strongly recommend checking it out to anyone interested in geopolitical manouvering and the concept of realpolitik.

Really mate, you gotta stop using Dearie Me and a laugh emoji as some kind of definitive, clever and cutting retort. Many of you posts on this conversation alone is littererd with it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

If it winds anyone else up, meh. Job done as far as I’m concerned. Many feel it’s ok to cast ludicrous aspersions against me, insult me and generally act in a manner they wouldn’t have the balls to do in front of my face.

So essentially, fwck that. I’ll use it how and whenever the inclination takes me.

In another sense, it’s more of a pitiful and scornful dismissal of some tripe that’s yet again be written against me.

How some people have the audacity to try and categorise me, make up utter nonsense and try and proclaim it as my thought processes is quite staggering at times. One individual (can’t even recall his old user name) does it in full knowledge I can’t read it as I chose to ignore his patter years ago. Why he persists is quite beyond any rational comprehension. It’s almost creepy and stinks to high heaven of either jealousy or a lack of self worth. Not really sure and couldn’t care less.

‘Nigel Farage is due to speak at a global conference that celebrates rich individuals who lower their tax bill by moving cash – and their citizenship – to other countries.

In a video promoting the ‘Nomad Capitalist’ event in Kuala Lumpur in September, the Brexiteer talks about an alleged “brain drain” in the UK and blames the Conservative Government for bringing in “rules about non-doms” – people registered abroad for tax purposes – claiming that “the exodus is beginning”. He also praises the Nomad Capitalist firm for “giving people best advice on where to go, and how to do it”.

The event promises to teach attendees “legal strategies that actually work in 2024 to reduce your taxes, build a global Plan B, and diversify and protect your wealth around the world”. It will be Farage‘s second time addressing the conference.’
