"believe many politicians fear for their safety and he’d have every reason to."
How many MP's aren't holding surgeries, Farage aside, as a result of this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not many I’d imagine, if any at all.
I think we’ve established he’s a coward. Cowards tend to fear for their own safety the most.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So no other MP's are avoiding their responsibilities. What makes Farage so special?
Mate it's an obvious lie. The speakers office denies telling him not to hold surgeries and he spends more time in.the US than being an MP for.those who elected him.

Yes I understand. I never said I give any empathy to him.
Look; this is pointless. I’ve made it all very abundantly clear. I have no empathy for the man in any way whatsoever. I can easily understand why he’d be scared and fear for his safety.
That’s pretty much it. This is a nothing argument or debate. I can’t say the thought of him or what he does ever really crosses my mind. My point was about any politician fearing for their safety in an open surgery. There have been multiple assaults, countless instances of written and/or verbal abuse and sadly, people have lost their lives.

Think it’s fair to say that it’s been a pretty poor start. There’s no comparison with the abomination that preceded this government but surely that was the golden opportunity to be squeaky clean and leave no room for anyone to have a go.
The public were sick and tired of the previous rule breaking and sleaze and voted them out on their rses in trust that it would stop.
Instead the public are understandably pissssed off that they are now having to endure more sleaze but nowhere near as bad as before. It’s not what was expected.
Furthermore, Starmer does not appear to be in control of his party as he seems to suggest he is. The conference could give them a reset opportunity or present even more issues. Let’s see
What makes you think he's not in control?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly as I said. It’s a pretty poor start. Dismal even and in such a short space of time.
I suppose it reflects the fact that only 34% of the vote was enough to give them almost absolute free license to govern as they please, and yet they still contrive to make a mess of it when it should have been so easy to create a real gulf.
And now Raynor is once again caught in the headlights. Quite staggering for individuals who went on the front foot about breaking rules yet seem to be unable to understand them themselves.
“She didn’t know”. Becoming a bit of a pattern no?
Starmer was never a strong leader, just the perfect Mr establishment guy who ticked the boxes. His lack of belief in anything particular is showing badly. But on other hand, get the bad/tough decisions out the way now so you can focus on the positives later.
In 8 weeks Labour have...
Ended public sector strikes
Set up a National Wealth Fund
Changed planning policy to build more homes
Binned the Rwanda plan
Dealt decisively with the racist riots
Started the Covid corruption enquiry
Reset relations with Europe
Confirmed the removal of VAT breaks for private schools
Given the green light to bring public bus services under local control
Brought the regional mayor's together so our regions can have a stronger voice
Authorised payments to those infected & affected by the contaminated blood scandal.
NHS 24/7 111 helpline for mental health support
Cancelled Sunaks £40 million helicopter contract
Created a Poverty taskforce
Free breakfasts for kids
Started GB Energy
Introduced plans to remove all hereditary peers from Lords
Musk agrees to take down accounts, pay fines, comply with #Brazil's request for X/Twitter to appoint a legal representative. Case was about a nation-state having sovereignty over its own media ecosystem in the face of the whims of a billionaire, and it looks like sovereignty won.

What makes you think he's not in control?
The reported internal squabbling and powerplays are just players setting out their boundaries, competitive, ambitious jostling for position like any new executive.
I'm delighted they sorted out the train workers and jnr docs, its a good start.

At the cost of the pensioners? I can guarantee had the tories done this you and the plastic scouser would be screaming blue murder.

No lectures from you please, our debt is 100% of our GDP thanks to right wing cranks.

LATEST @OpiniumResearch/@ObserverUK poll
On the eve of the first Labour Party Conference since they came into power, Keir Starmer’s approval rating is at its lowest ever (-26%), down by 45 points from his first approval rating as prime minister (+19%).
Almost half of the public now have a more negative view of Starmer (45%) and Labour (45%) since they came into office, with only 27% viewing the new government’s first few months as a success. Even a third (32%) of 2024 Labour voters think the government has not been a success.

Never has a government plunged so bad in the polls 11 weeks after a GE, Keith has a lot of work to do in the conference to turn it around.
