This "it's alright because we declared it" line that Labour keep trotting out is cringeworthy and as usual lacks any self awareness. Do they really think OAP's care whether they were above board with their cadging when they are starving.
I murdered my wife last night but it's OK because I rang the police and declared it.

These starving pensioners can console themselves with another pension rise of between £350-460 next year. Meanwhile;
"In 2010, 9% of this group lived in a household that had a total wealth – including assets like their home and pensions – above £1 million. Ten years later, this rose to 27%."

This Labour lot are clearly incapable of clearing up the mess the last lot created over 13 odd years. Christ, they have had nearly 3 months already and still most things seem the same.

Did they not prepare plans during their 14 years in opposition? I don’t think anyone really still knows what their plans actually are.
Sure there are headline grabbers, but there is no detail whatsoever other than settling pay disputes and significantly raising taxes whilst cutting spending.
Starmers’s popularity is dropping like a stone and if it carries on, there’s every chance of a leadership challenge.
Maybe the conference will reveal all.

Eh?
What about the other 73% of pensioners who aren't living in £1m houses?
The Employment Rights Bill looks like a promising step. Plenty of pretty important stuff in there.
We’ll have to wait see what the dots and crosses look like when it arrives at Parliament (what will the statutory sick pay reforms be? will the right to switch off be backed with measures to punish rule-breaking bosses? how hard are they going to go in on insecure contracts?) but the scope of the content looks fairly comprehensive.
The right to switch off has been super popular here. The govt has put in seriously punitive measures for rule breakers, and I spoke to one person, whom I’m sure isn’t unique in this respect, who said that the rule has literally changed their life.
Pretty decent delivery of that speech by Rayner.

Unless you mean the almost three quarters of pensioners who outright own their homes? Just because it’s under £1m doesn’t mean that all of the remaining 73% are poor.
As for pensioners as a whole, they’re one of very few groups of people that undeniably deserve our support.
Letting in hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people every year to help pay for current pensioners is a dreadful plan as it a. Puts a huge strain on national support infrastructures and b. Will only make the problem bigger later down the line
Fields just wanted to make a ‘look Tories bad’ comment but it failed miserably which is amusing given that there are so many things he could have used instead.

Not uncommon in hospital contruction, I've worked on a few and all have been over budget and late on completion for various reasons.
They make the headlines because it's public money plus people are generally more interested in the progress of a new hospital rather than a new supermarket so it's news.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Almost three-quarters (74%) of people aged 65 years and over owned their homes outright in England in 2017, up from 56% in 1993 (Figure 1). This group includes the first to benefit from the “right to buy” initiative, which saw social housing stock sold at reduced prices from the 1980s, and boosted home ownership.
I'm genuinely surprised the figures are that high.

OK lets get Boris and Co back.
This Labour lot are clearly incapable of clearing up the mess the last lot created over 13 odd years. Christ, they have had nearly 3 months already and still most things seem the same.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you kidding?
Time may well prove you correct but it takes years to steady a ship. Years…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
err yes, I was kidding actually.
My point was that it will take years to steady ship.
Not 3 months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did they not prepare plans during their 14 years in opposition? I don’t think anyone really still knows what their plans actually are.
Sure there are headline grabbers, but there is no detail whatsoever other than settling pay disputes and significantly raising taxes whilst cutting spending.
Starmers’s popularity is dropping like a stone and if it carries on, there’s every chance of a leadership challenge.
Maybe the conference will reveal all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Prime Minister Angie
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Off to Nikki Beach to spend some of my ill gotten gains earned by the sweat of the underprivileged
Jesting in case anyone takes that last part seriously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
“I have never seen a class so deeply demoralised, so incurably debased by selfishness, so corroded within, so incapable of progress, as the English bourgeoisie.” Engels.
As you’re a Scot and not English Ginge, you get a pass, obviously.
Enjoy the beach
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The path to the beach is made of human bones.

This is a fooking disgrace. It started on a budget of €700 million and is currently now at €2.2 billion and opening delayed until 2026
----------------------------------------------------------------------
BAM, under their various incarnations have a pretty good rep in the construction industry.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not directly blaming them Boris. The whole thing has been a clusterfack since the beginning was what I was inferring

Iraq has joined the attacks on Israel today, Hezbollah has gone further down south in its attacks today too.

Not uncommon in hospital contruction, I've worked on a few and all have been over budget and late on completion for various reasons.
They make the headlines because it's public money plus people are generally more interested in the progress of a new hospital rather than a new supermarket so it's news.

Unless you mean the almost three quarters of pensioners who outright own their homes? Just because it’s under £1m doesn’t mean that all of the remaining 73% are poor.
----------------------------------
I very much doubt that many own their own homes, 50-60% would be my estimate, maybe a lot lower.

Well don’t forget about right to buy Boris, that’s a lot of it. Plus the older generation didn’t mortgage, remortgage and remortgage like ours does. They paid them down and stayed put. Asset rich, cash poor.
