Cook will end up second in the all time run scorers(if he continues) not bad for an opener is it?? the other players in the list batted further down.. Cook as to face the new ball and most of the time in England where it offers more..
England got hammered I knew they would.. Australia deserved to win..
You cant have 2 of your top 3 averaging around 20 in any series never mind the ashes. Vince should never have been picked to begin with.
Its an horrible feeling. Just like the feeling the aussies had when they were bowled out for 60 in less than an hour an half.. to lose the series last time..
Cook has been amazing for England but 1 jammy innings in how long does not change the fact hes past it.
If smith caught him on 60 he would be looking down the barrel.

yep..pretty much.
fook me this team just folds in OZ.
We're preparing for 2019 now
It becomes comical when you think to yourself "I bet I'll wake up to the worst case scenario" and then you wake up and that scenario is realised day after day.
It's been a positive series for us other than;
Stoneman regressed as the series went on after looking okay in the first few tests.
Cook seems to be all or nothing with a lot of poor scores around the daddy hundreds.
They're still the best openers England has to offer.
We still need a number 3.
Root's conversion rate remains poor.
Moeen can only be a back up spinner when we're touring.
We haven't got any seamers consistently near Jimmy's level.
We love a drink.
Forgot to add that we lack the spine to dig out a result if we're losing.
Everyone got a hard on for moeen.
Poor guy has been the scapegoat all series
I still don't get why England played the moral high ground by not selecting Stokes. Whatever happens after his case (most like guilty) let it be then. For now he should be playing for England. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.
Looking forward to the ODI's and the New Zealand tests.
As for the Ashes, only players to come out with any credit are Cook (marginally), Malan, Anderson (who bowled excellently and did well to take 17 wickets) Curran with the bat and Overton looked promising, Bairstow did well
Moeen, Vince, Stoneman, Broad, Root, - All under performed

Cook scored 100 or so runs in 8 innings.and then after the ashes were lost. Don't let the 200 fool you into thinking he did anything useful
Anderson did ok but the 5 wickets were in the day nighter when conditions suited to a T. All the Aussie quicks took 20 or more wickets
Root is seen as this world class batsman but unless he starts to convert 50's into hundreds he is OK not WC
Moeen needs to be allowed to bat higher up and focus on that. Used as second spinner
Broad looks finished. He took those 4 wickets then where other bowlers speed stays fairly consistent he lost 5 mikes an hour off his speed in second innings.
Despite all the "we were in it" type nonsense england were poor, chit even
We were never in it, at any point.
Australia blowed us away at will, it was embarrassing
Well done to the Aussies. A very poor series for England overall.

this I'm afraid.
It's so frustrating watching opposition batsmen comfortably score runs on a pitch that our batsmen then get blown away on. We should have been able to bat out a draw as Australia did against us in the 4th test.
Once again another series goes by where we learn absolutely nothing. Malan showed promise to dig in at times which was good however when we're behind we're so bad. We're usually pretty good when we're in front but we only ever had rare moments when we had our noses in front and we were never able to get further ahead.

100% agree, Only Bancroft and Jackson Bird under performed, everyone else was a joy to watch.
Like Jimmy said this morning we need that 95mph bowler when we come back again and a decent spinner.

Easier said than done of course. There are some spinning possibilities e.g. Crane, Leach, Bess. They need to be brought through.
Quicker bowlers need to be kept fit obviously, a problem Australia have had.
The right pitches would help development and changes to the county schedule might assist in this.
Agreed, is a huge task to get a spinner and fast bowler prepped to play on flat hard pitches like in Australia when in England we have nothing like that.
