I predict Australia will bat for another 2 sessions, get 350 ahead and then bowl England out to win
If this was the other way round definitely a draw. Trouble is apart from cook no one has the concentration to bat time. I blame the coaches. No strong leaders. Reckon bayliss is taking the pi55. Knows nothing about county cricket and cannot be ar5ed to do so.
So when will Australia declare
600-4
700-4
1000-4

I like crane and hopefully england don't mess him around
But his figures at the end of the day were worse than Ali's so didn't like the hype either
Let the kid develop, Shane warnes figures from his first match were woeful but he was allowed to develop.and did OK. Although McGrath at the other end helped.
For me england shouldn't be using spin at both ends. Have Anderson and crane bowling where Anderson frustrates and the batsmen think they will ease the pressure by smacking crane out the ground. This is how spinners get wickets. Batsmen thinking they can cane a few
Anderson and Broad overseas are finished. Tail end wicket takers at best abroad. Dearth of any real bowling talent coming through. Looks like a return to getting whumped every 2 years for a while.
There are quite a few young players coming through but you don't know how they're going to turn out, of course.
England have done a little bit better than I expected, going into the final day with 6 wickets left. They're still getting well beaten though.

You must have had incredibly low expectations. Losing tests by an innings when scoring 350 and previously being 360-4 in another test first innings is a desperate performance. BT sport have certainly not had any drama for there money.

I did have very low expectations, having watched the rest of the series.
That one innings from Cook manged to save his career. He been absolutely trash and even that innings was lucky as he should have been out for 60.
Guarantee if that game had something on the line he wouldn't have scored that many.
England travel to NZ next. Do they have hope there at all? At the start of the series Root said they have learnt a lot from the previous ashes drubbing the got. Don’t think much has changed since that series. In fact I would say this results are worse than last times. Atleast last time they were playing on very tough wickets against the pace of Johnson. This time round the pitches have been pretty good for batting.
It`s up to a couple of Yorkies to save the game
NZ have a better all round bowling lineup too. More pace while with Wagner plenty of chin music.
I don't anticipate too many changes for new Zealand. One I would make is drop Vince. Either move root up and bring Livingstone in or Jennings at 3. Any chance of Finn or Jones being fit would help the bowling.
Conditions might suit England better in NZ. Maybe they are more like England. It'll still be tough though. There's talk Ballance will be dropped from the squad which doesn't make sense, in a way, as he's not one of those who has failed in the Tests. But a lot of folk wouldn't have picked him in the first place. I don't foresee too many changes in the squad.

THe team were talked up as near equals before a ball was bowled, media mocking some Aussie selections and the feeling was England should be competitive throughout. Hindsight is nice but they were clearly massively overrated.

To be fair, plenty of Aussies mocked some Aussie selections - or worse.
Root is currently in hospital with severe dehydration. Uncertain if he will resume his innings. Hope he’s ok.
