They'll perform on English pitches, away from home we need to generate a side capable of staying in matches and winning more than the odd session.

Have to agree with what a lot of people have said here, it's too little too late.

If we manage to avoid a whitewash (it would be a 3rd in the space of 10 years) then yes this has saved some embarassment and Cook, Broad and Anderson have performed for us many times in the last, but I really think it's too much to pat them on the back when during the live series they did nothing and now the series is over, they suddenly are performing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I expect the likes of Cook, Broad and Anderson to stay in the team. They're still some of the best players England has. Younger players players have been brought in and some have done quite well. That process should continue. For example, at least one other spinner must be given a go, whether it's Crane or someone else.

I agree on Cook and Broad but disagree on Anderson who has had a good series. He's not been exceptional but considering a lot of people said he would struggle and shouldn't play, he's taken 15 wickets at 24.73. If he'd had the back up he had in 10-11 with Tremlett, Finn and Bresnan then England would still be well in this series.

It may be too little too late for the series but there are some out there playing for their careers.

Surely England can't lose this test from this position can they? looks likely to be an England win or draw.

Can Cook carry his wicket ? I think the last Englishman to do that was Atherton against the Saffers in 1995 ? Before that Gooch against the mighty West Indies of 1991... very rare....

Anderson has bowled well this series and been the only constant threat. The bigger problem is there is no real support for him. Alli has been poor.

Expect us to get to 500 in the morning. Jimmy is still on strike remember. He needs to have a little net session in the morning

Keep hearing this and have to disagree.
Bar the day nighter with the pink ball, when conditions suited he has been ineffective.

Anderson is a decent bowler no doubt when conditions suit.

Have to say though that the way cricket has gone over the last few years its a tragedy seeing what would be average cricketers in top 10 lists with giants of the game

Fair enough, I meant in the context of our bowlers and how they have performed,

Anderson has 15 wickets averaging at 24, not bad

Next best is Broad with horrific figures

Cookie is a phenomenal batsman IMO, always rates him.

However when I hear how hard him and broad have worked to not get dropped its pees me right off. Should have done it after test match 1

All this ensures is everyone in media etc creaming themselves and ensuring both get leeway when gbey should be hammered.

Broad has "struggled" with being hit batting for how long? Not enough to get in nets for the team but as soon as his jib is on the line he comes out with wickets and 58

Feck off

I got you mate and agree compared to broady he has been excellent

What I was alluding to more so was that take out the 5 wickets in 1 innings and your looking at 10 in 5 innings. With broady not bothering and moin fe king about ams a need to take 20 wickets a match its not good reading

Magnificent from england

honestly i have no idea who said australia were on top after day 1.

where is fact taker - no mocking now.

I expect England to comfortably stroll to victory here.

Aussie dont rally care as they have used up all their energy in the first 3 tests now they are showing complacency.

credit to Cook - I hae wanted him dropped for a year but has struck a magnificent century.

Also Broad for magnificent bowling figures.

Australia have no way back unless they take early wickets which i cant see happening.

Seems like Anderson was chirping the truth. Aussies dont really have a good depth of bowlers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Grande,

Let me make it clear that my predictions are almost 98% correct here in JA606 whereas urs is not even 30% right as per records.. Now Aussies may still come out with a draw as da game is not over yet pal.

To be fair, Aussies really miss Starc and Cookie got lucky with dropped catches by mate Smith! Now Ashes is over so not much at stake compared to previous matches. I’m not implementing that these games are not imp but they don’t have much value especially to a neutral cricket fan like me.

Good luck and I still have a feeling that Smith gonna rock hard in his second innings! I may be wrong and I got no shame to admit my mistakes as real men do pal!

Peace out.

Big daddy!

Now da mighty rain may have the final say, even with the ball-tampering tactics by da UN team.

posted on 29/12/17

Not the first time Anderson has been caught ball tampering. He did the same against Pakistan a few years back but because it was England no further action was taken.

Ridiculous accusations, clearly pushing down the leather on the ball with the shiny side, nothing story

Throwing the ball into the rough, every team does it. Australia more than most, it's gamesmanship.

I don't agree personally,

The nails were going into the ball. Clear attempt to tamper the ball.
