Another VVD game for Liverpool, another win for Liverpool.

No clean sheet today but another assured performance, just the one goal conceded as well.

Here's some stats.

Prior to Virgil joining, Liverpool had conceded 21 goals in 11 away games. An average of 1.90 goals per game.
Since he has joined, they have played 5 away games and conceded just 4 goals, an average of 0.80 goals per game.

Still, if Brainless cuuntt says he won't improve, who am I to argue?

You said in your rubbish article he wouldn’t significantly improve us when it is clear he has.

This article will be remembered and laughed at for years to come. If you can’t take it you should never have made it in the first place.

I'm still perfectly content with the logic and grounding of the article, and it's not clear to me why you think I'm somehow uncomfortable with it or in your words 'can't take it'? Indeed your use of name calling and repeated visits and contributions to the article would suggest that it may well be you who is better described in such a fashion.

It doesn't take a statistician to point out that using one set of sample data that is more than twice the size of the other, isn't a robust basis for comparison. Also, when using such small data sets using averages or percentages is poor practice in terms of analysis, because they can vary so hugely with relatively small absolute value changes.

I'm simply pointing out the obvious, my comment would is true for general statistical analysis. Regarding my article, as I said earlier, it would require a much more layered and mature form of analysis to actually be useful in this discussion.

You are entirely welcome to keep revisiting your contention, but without improvement it won't alter the principal flaws of what you say. If you wish to go down the statistical route, I suggest that you first consider what you think it is you are trying to disprove, and then consider what a credible (this is key) set of analytical parameters could be that could yield some meaningful insight. I'm sure that when you then apply that same level of considered thinking to the point you just made, you will agree that it isn't especially useful.

Im unclear as to these reactions? He had a good game against a blunt everton attack. He was guilty of poor positioning which led to the goal, and Matip certainly didnt seem to benefit from this alleged organisation. I think you would need to see a little more of him before you can draw any real conclusions. Pretty good debut though.

---------
So you can draw your conclusions having seen a little more of him. 5 away games, 4 goals conceded, significant improvement v pre VVD ...

Little more .. there's two months worth at least.. you can now close your account

You've singularly missed the nuances of my point, which is why your simplistic contentions are inadequate when attempting to address it.

Regarding your peculiar and persistent desire for me to close my account, are you so uncomfortable with me holding an alternative view to yours, that you need that voice to disappear? It is a rather self-defeating act for you to continue to revisit my post if that is the case.

Yestyerday was another perfect example of how much he improved Liverpool.

He had one ball miss controlled that almost lead to a goal, but that can happen to anyone and such a mistake is rare with van dijk.

Palace did exactly what United did: target the rightside of Liverpool since it's weak there. Whwen van dijk went out of position to man-mark suddenly Benteke's threat was nullified and palace switched to use Saha as a source for threat.

Another key aspect is how his longrange passing is causing all sorts of problems and it was unfortunate that Mané's head blocked vvd's header that was bound going in.

PS I recommend everyone not to react to Brain anymore. At first I thought he was sincere after reading his article, but the power of his wumming has run out and his points are binned thanks to vvd. Feel free to mock him though.

Reasonable observations, though I feel you overstate the impact of his long range passing, and rather gloss over his lack of assurance yesterday. VVD is the most expensive defender in history, and an indicator of his calibre will be against better teams than Crystal Palace. It will be interesting to see if he comes out well against Man City over the two Champions League legs, in a highly pressured situation where he will be really tested, as that is the kind of arena in which he was bought to excel.

I would say that if a team pays a £75 million world record fee for a defender, they could expect for him to be able to perform well against the best teams in the big matches. If you think that's nonsense, it's odd, but you are entitled to your view.

posted on 1/4/18

Hahaha Brain now resorting to saying VVD should be expected to perform as he cost £75m..

So even though he has improved Liverpool significantly, it's nothing unusual..
