AJ should fight mike Tyson next, after he beats Jake Paul.
Based on last night's showing, as long as Tyson comes out the corner early and lands one on his face, which appears to be easy, AJ is done for.

People talking about AJ retiring and not knowing where he can go from here. I think he should fight Miller next. People would be interested in that seeing as it's unfinished business and the build up would be good. AJ would probably be motivated enough to beat the crap out of him as well and Miller wouldn't be too dangerous an opponent for him to jump in with after getting his ass handed to him.

Didn’t even bother watching, knew AJ would get knocked out first real shot he took.

Times up.

You were wrong there then Pranks. He took a lot of real shots. Credit to him for lasting so long.

Id like to see rematch. Another possible redemption story. Dubois will be the A side this time but the Saudis know that AJ still brings in the money. Much better figjt than Dubois V Parker. If AJ loses then it is over.

A rematch would be mental right now. If he wants to carry on he should fight a less dangerous opponent, try and claw some dignity back. Parker doesn't have much power, maybe rematch him. The reward to risk level would be good. Well, it's still a risk but way less chance of him ending the fight face planting the canvas.

Nah AJ can't do another 3-4 fight comeback story. He needs closure next fight. There is no one left to fight other than up and comers.

Conventional wisdom says the more experienced, patient and calculated AJ beats Dubois over 12 rounds by stoppage later in the fight or by points decision. Dubois is probably going to try to get at AJ from the off and be the aggressor.

So does Dubois successfully impose himself on AJ over the course of the fight with his superior stamina and big jab like he did against Hrgovic? Or does AJ just catch wreckless Dubois coming in with a trademark uppercut?

Too many variables and incalculables to this fight, including which version of Dubois turns up on the night. Struggling to come up with a prediction. But I'll go with Dubois by very late stoppage as my official prediction simply because it's such an awkward fight to predict and picking AJ almost seems too easy to my mind. Life is rarely that straightforward, especially in HW boxing.

And everyone's going with AJ anyway so I might as well be the odd one out lol. Just hope we don't see a dodgy AJ points decision as we know how much appetite there is to make this AJ vs Fury fight, which I seriously doubt ever happens anyway tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Replying to my own comment but that was my official prediction for the fight . I was one of very few to actually back Dubois, or at least who was willing to admit it publicly lol. I didn't think it would be that easy but I predicted Dubois to stop AJ.

People need to understand that after the Usyk fights AJ was fighting guys that weren't remotely challenging. An ageing Helenius was dragged out of semi retirement and Wallin being AJ's best opponent in that time says everything. So many people got seduced by that Ngannou ko without putting it in the context it needed to be considered.

That's why I also said that Dubois was going to be AJ's toughest fight in many years outside of the Usyk fights and I'm sure people can now see why.

Also hope people will start giving Dubois his flowers. Those stoppages against Baby Miller and Hrgovic were very impressive and stood Dubois in perfect stead for a fight against AJ.

So much BS was getting spouted against Dubois about how he'd freeze at Wembley etc while completely ignoring the fact that he'd been in some very big fights of his own in the lead up to this lol. But that's how blinkered people can be I guess.

Hard to name a boxer who isn’t arrogant tbh

Dubois was brutal.

Just rewatched the fight again this morning.

If this isn't the end of Ben Davison as a boxing coach then I dunno what will be. Genuinely don't see what boxers see in him when they hire him.

Can only assume he talks a really good game but he's proven now on multiple occasions that he his pre-fight tactics leave his boxers with a mountain to climb. He had Joshua trying to lure Dubois in by leaving the left hand low, pawing at Dubois with jabs from the hip in the hope he could sneak a haymaker right in, and using the pivot anytime Dubois ended up on the inside.. which left Joshua's entire left side open while leaving him susceptible to Dubois' heavy jab.

Employing those tactics at HW against a known KO artist who also carries the heaviest jab in boxing was suicidal. Asking your boxer to try new techniques against a very dangerous opponent is just wild.

Last night was comfortably the worst Joshua I've ever seen in a fight. He looked like one of the bums he was KOing during his manufactured path to the world title. He really didn't look like he belonged in a world title fight.. he was Charles Martin last night.

Why would Fury fight AJ now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because despite the losses on their resumes, people still want to see this fight even if they're both washed up. The appetite for HW fights which also carry a bit of spite is huge, especially in the UK with two well established names.. even if Fury loses again to Usyk I can see the Joshua v Fury fight happening next year and it being massive.

Yeah Ben Davison made Joshua look like Audley Harrison in there. The worst thing was he said in the post match presser that they expected Dubois to come out fast. Yet somehow they didn't prepare for it.

Exactly this.
It looked like he hadn't trained at all. He looked pathetic in there.
As if 0 homework was done on Dubois.

I am certain AJ is a better boxer than what was shown last night but fk me, it was embarrassing.

You've got to hand it to Ben Davison. He's still as loyal as ever to Fury and that performance showed it.

posted 3 weeks, 5 days ago

It obviously won’t be good for Ben Davison if Dubois starts off fast and knocks Joshua out in the early rounds on Saturday night. Joshua would likely fire Davison soon afterward and then look for the next flavor of the week to rebuild him. It doesn’t matter who coaches Joshua; he’s a sinking ship, and no one can fix him. Joshua’s problems are too severe for a new coach because it involves age, ring wear, weak chin, poor stamina, and lack of confidence

-----------------

wonder if AJ will change trainer again, wonder if he'll try go back to basics knowing him and get McKracken back

It's akin to expecting Pep Guardiola to manage Fulham to a Champions League trophy.

Technically it can be done with enough good fortune but chances are they'd get found out by top opposition.. just as AJ has throughout his career.

Fair play to Hearn for waiting until Klitschko was pretty much done before sending Joshua in with him.. even then a hungry, unbeaten, incredibly confident Joshua almost came up short.

Can't fault Joshua for his heart or carefully managed career but you lost certainly can fault his boxing ability at the elite level.

AJ has had a brilliant career despite his deficiencies as a boxer. One thing for sure is that peak Wilder would have put peak AJ to sleep. He did well to not manage to fight him.

You say this as if wilder fought decent opponents his entire career. He got to like 37-0 by fighting nobodies apart from audley Harrison who was over 40 at the time.

And Ortiz, who was also old.

posted 3 weeks, 5 days ago

I was at the fight and I was in shock when I sae Dubois drop AJ.

AJ's made a considerable amount of money and has achieved great success but the hunger just isn't there anymore. He should retire.

Why are fans always so quick to pull out the 'retirement' card?

There are still a number of fights for AJ I think could be interesting to fans - vs Miller, vs Whyte, vs Joyce even. If you're saying you wouldn't watch them, I don't believe you're a real boxing fan.
