Taking 'totally' literally?

Right then.

So let's take 'totally' out:

'No you can't totally fail at a club and then succeed'.

Is that correct or incorrect?

And what?

'No you can't flop at a club and then totally succeed'

You have said this is wrong, yes?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, he's got that right.

A total success would be he was a success from start to end. If he flopped first and then was successful he's been a success at the club but not a total success.

It's football!

When people say "He's absolutely smashed that" they don't mean that the player has violently shattered the ball.

Winston is a buffoon (a ridiculous but amusing person).
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You realise you're backing up my point, right?

You don't?

Oh dear. That's a bit embarrassing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember when I said I genuinely think you have mental health issues.

That.

Incorrect probably. You can succeed after totally failing. For example a striker comes in, plays ten games, scores no goals, no assists and doesn't help his team in any way. He's out of the team for another couple of years. Injuries pile up, he gets his chance, scores a hattrick in his first game. His name is sang around the stadium, he plays for another five years, scoring 30 a season. He is now seen as a success.

No, you can't.

The problem with that scenario is that player, at no point totally failed at his club.

Same goes for a flop.

I love the fact that the only way you can get out of contradicting yourself is to take the word 'totally' in a literal sense, which is what you have been moaning about all thread.

Brilliant stuff.

Yes, and I remember telling you to grow up.

Why respond with that, anyway? You did post something that backs up my point, without realising it.

That is amusing, whether you like it or not.

The word flop when used in this context is informal.

One dictionary link says it means total failure. Another states it simply means failure. Cambridge dictionary even uses the example: “the play was a complete/total flop”. Yet according to another definition, the words complete/total would be redundant.

Winston, you’ve had a nightmare here.

Pogba has been a flop so far. Nothing wrong in saying that.

No, I didn't but I bet I can make you post for another two days.

You're wrong.

As others have said on the other thread about what flop means, calling someone a flop potentially so early in their club career is flawed.

I have explained why.

Is that the best you've got? Bragging about your trolling skills?

No mate, telling that you're digressing towards me. To a man everyone thinks you've made a fool of yourself and had a mare.

Time to show a bit of humility for once lad. You've lost the plot for the umpteenth time.

Except that's not true, is it?

Someone posted basically what I am saying on the other thread about defining 'flop' and others agreed.

Perhaps you'd be better of trying to troll again, because on the subject matter you're all over the place.

I'll ask you this as well.

If 'he's been a flop so far' is correct, how long would a player need to be poor for, to be labelled as such?

1 month?

1 week?

1 day?

You see, it's a nonsense comment that people like you haven't really thought through.

Back to the insults because you have no answer.

What a shock.

posted on 29/3/18

It's not an insult, it's an observation. We've been through this before, I genuinely believe you have a borderline personality disorder or are somewhere on the spectrum.

I don't care about your appraisal because you're no doubt allowed a free bus pass.

It is insulting.

We have been through this before. Making that assertion based solely on an Internet forum means you're either trying to be insulting or you're genuinely stupid.

Either way, it's pretty poor on your part.

Winston, at what point did you conclude that Bravo was a flop?

1 month?

1 week?

1 day?

posted on 29/3/18

Well I'm just going to have to live with that whilst you cover yourself in glory on here.
