What's the opinions of people around Europe got to do with anything? We are talking about the domestic league

Why would we suddenly pick up less points next season when we have barely played well this year, we will get better even if it’s still not good to watch.

You’re confusing who is better to watch with who is more likely to consistently pick up points and finish higher next season.

Mourinho's 3rd season it notoriously where it all starts to fall apart though

Can't see United challenging, they are poor and have a park the bus manager, which only gets you so far nowadays. Spending money hasn't really helped you that much lately, you were the most expensive squad ever assembled last season and finished sixth.

This is coming from the bloke who said Liverpool would smash United at Old Trafford and for most of the season we’d be in a battle for 4th

posted on 26/4/18

Exactly, I think you’re basing it on Liverpool’s performance in the QF and SF stages. Not based on a full premier league season. No one is arguing they’ve been at their absolute best in these later rounds, and if they played like that every week I’d agree with you.

Because people can see Liverpool have got something special.

United don't have anything special right now, they are a well organised bunch with top quality players lacking attacking cohesion

Tbf I can only think of 3 league games we deserved to lose and all the draws we were by far the dominant team. We've lost less games than Utd this season and since VVD sign I think we've taken more/the same amount of points.

I can't really see where Utd's improvement is going to come from either.

Best placed to challenge next season? Nobody.

City will win it again it pains me to say although I don't think quite as emphatically next year.

They have a big lead and money to improve too. Can't see past them tbh.

Literally the whole of Ronald's argument is going on how they have performed in Europe and that they are an exciting team. Clueless

They tore City apart.

United essentially fluked a win v them. I just think United are so unbalanced, players not really that happy, relationship between manager and fans not great.

counter that with Liverpool, have found much better balance this season, players willing to run through brick walls for Klopp and the whole club pulling in one direction

City undoubtedly favourites, but there has to be a team best placed to challenge them.

I keep hearing this nonsense line
'Liverpool appear to be in the best position to challenge City next season'
Why is that?
They are about to finish around 6 points behind us and we have the 2nd best record against the other top 5 teams. We also have a lot more money to spend for additions in the summer than Liverpool do. Just a stupid line spouted out from the Scouse media/pundits
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably due to the fact the team gelled since our best player left and we've swept most sides aside with ease and are heading to the CL final. Yes, we've dropped some points recently when resting players for the CL but then the league has been sown up for ages now, so nothing really to play for there, therefore the right decision.

Can't see United challenging, they are poor and have a park the bus manager, which only gets you so far nowadays. Spending money hasn't really helped you that much lately, you were the most expensive squad ever assembled last season and finished sixth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
we are so poor you havent beaten us in the last 5 games?

If only we had some kind of way to rank them both through this year then, rather than one off games, maybe a points based system and then a league table.

I’ve never said we look good, I think we look awful at times, but you still get 3 points for a win.

Yet despite all liverpools fantastic relationships, attacking football blah blah and uniteds unbalance, unhappy players we are still 3 points ahead with a game in hand

It's not stupid at all. Which areas are Utd going to improve on? Not ssying this will happem but I can see Liverpool turning a lot of those draws into wins and having a better record in the top six games next season for example.

A team finishing in 3rd and in the CL final have done better than a team finishing second and in the FA Cup final.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
depends how both teams get on in the final.... if Liverpool make it of course

posted on 26/4/18

Python you're really excited about this second place like it actually means anything.

order of losers who both get into the CL, no wonder Liverpool have been putting out much changed sides because they understand CL success is much more important than something no one will care about by the time next season starts

posted on 26/4/18

Our next season is down to the manager, if he finds his genuine best team and a way to get more out of our current players. Coupled with a more consistent back line if we don’t get as many injuries. Attacking cohesion will come with a settled line up.

If none of that happens, I still expect us to pick up similar points despite being poor to watch. It’s what Jose does.
