Not at all as we will drop points next season that we would not expect to. But to say that you have areas/results that you can improve on next season but we don't is, somewhat, flippant.
===============
I didn't say you don't have areas at all. I asked which areas. I then gave examples.
So, as another example, I feel Liverpool's in game management has vastly improved. I also think the defence is better than the first half of the season with Robertson and VVD in there which is why we've taken the most points in the league since he signed. I also think our h2h record has a good chance of being better (late draws against Spurs and Arsenal for example) As such I can see where we'll get more points.
What about Utd? Is there h2h record going to get even better next season for example.

Python you're really excited about this second place like it actually means anything.
order of losers who both get into the CL, no wonder Liverpool have been putting out much changed sides because they understand CL success is much more important than something no one will care about by the time next season starts
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where have I said I was excited about finishing 2nd? I am just giving you facts that we are ahead of Liverpool yet you and many others seem to think Liverpool have a better chance of challenging city just because of a CL run
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your being willfully ignorant now, because you've been given plenty of reasons but your boiling it all down to "because of a CL run"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your whole argument as to why Liverpool will finish higher is that they've had a better CL run and are a more exciting team to watch.
Like I have said before we are not a good team to watch. If I had my way I would have Jose gone however one thing you can say is he knows how to win trophies, we will be better as obviously we will be spending more and we know how to pick up points despite playing Sheite which gives us IMO a better chance of challenging than Liverpool.

Liverpool are very good when nthey have their best 11. The squad isn't as deep as the one at United, nor does it have the same quality in terms of the backups.
They also will have a much smaller budget despite the CL exploits. The winner only gets £20m more than those that go out in the Group stages or something like that. In terms of the commercial side of the game, United are well ahead.
They have a great forward lineup, however its the ACON next year I think, so that menas Sane and Salah probably out for a month in January - which is massively important in the league - who will replace these players? Thats if they don't get sold in the summer. Salah is going to be hot property at the very least.
But yeah there are loads of reasons why Liverpool will be better than us in the league next year

Exactly, I think you’re basing it on Liverpool’s performance in the QF and SF stages. Not based on a full premier league season. No one is arguing they’ve been at their absolute best in these later rounds, and if they played like that every week I’d agree with you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair, we've been excellent since October, it was just we had an awful start to the season. Not sure what it's like now, but I know a couple of weeks ago we had only picked up something like 7 points less than city in the past 20 odd games and was comfortably in second over that time period.
Now im aware every team goes through stages of bad spells and you can't just ignore them, but we've got better and better as the season has gone on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with that.
Yet despite this we have still been the more consistent team which is why we are 3 points ahead with a game in hand.

As I have said, you have improved as the season has gone on, which is why you are doing what you are in the CL. We have been consistent all season, albeit in a far less entertaining way.
City are the only team to have had a number on pretty much every team they have played this season.
Every time we have dropped points this season is an opportunity to improve our h2h next season.

On the flip side I think Utd have more work to do on the squad. Fulls backs need looking at and will need two cms.

Yes I was just asking about the season in its entirety as I'm interested in football.
Well we’ve lost 2 more in the league, both lost in the league cup, you lost in the FA cup and we haven’t, can’t remember our group record in the CL. Then we lost in the CL.
You’ve probably lost 4 or so less games yeah.
Lots of draws killed your league campaign.
United have won three more in the league, five more in the FA Cup and two more in the Carabao Cup.
I believe Liverpool have won four more games in the CL proper and two in the qualifiers.
United will have lost more games this season though.

We lost 2 games in CL. Basel and Sevilla

Not at all as we will drop points next season that we would not expect to. But to say that you have areas/results that you can improve on next season but we don't is, somewhat, flippant.
===============
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I have said, you have improved as the season has gone on, which is why you are doing what you are in the CL. We have been consistent all season, albeit in a far less entertaining way.
City are the only team to have had a number on pretty much every team they have played this season.
Every time we have dropped points this season is an opportunity to improve our h2h next season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apart from it wasn't so do yourself a favour and read my comments then put together a response

Whats the point of finishing 2nd when you cant compete in the cl
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's the point of even turning up in the league when you know you can't win it?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could answer that yourself btw.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
good post Ronny as usual
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Since we last won it:
City 2
Chelsea 2
Utd 1
Leicester 1
Liverpool - Tried hard

You can't have won the league once since you last won it

Why wouldn't it get better and what makes you think yours will get better and ours won't
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could just answer but hey ho.
It's less likely to get better as there is less room to, obviously.
I'll tell you what, in the interests of debate I'll do it for you. Utd could improve by being more free scoring and utilising their attacking players more. Do you think this will happen.
On the flip side I think Utd have more work to do on the squad. Fulls backs need looking at and will need two cms.

league is bread and butter. if you finish second, you have been better than a team that finishes 3rd and wins the cl.
thats a fact.
they will have been more successful. but not better.

I'd hazard a guess Utd have lost more games of football this season.
I wouldn't mind checking actually as we may have won more too.
Is there a site which gives total matches for the season?

You do realise the league goes on points gained rather than total number of losses

Not that counts much for a league campaign mind
