But we got second playing the dullest football known to man that means we are more likely to challenge than Liverpool who have been ripping teams to shreds throughout the season on a regular basis
His last two seasons have been 6th and 16th.
How did we fluke a win? All our 3 goals were legimate well crafted goals. City took the foot off the gas and we stepped up our game and caught them with their pants down. It was no fluke.

Exactly, I think you’re basing it on Liverpool’s performance in the QF and SF stages. Not based on a full premier league season. No one is arguing they’ve been at their absolute best in these later rounds, and if they played like that every week I’d agree with you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf I can only think of 3 league games we deserved to lose and all the draws we were by far the dominant team. We've lost less games than Utd this season and since VVD sign I think we've taken more/the same amount of points.
I can't really see where Utd's improvement is going to come from either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Stupid comment

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not stupid at all. Which areas are Utd going to improve on? Not ssying this will happem but I can see Liverpool turning a lot of those draws into wins and having a better record in the top six games next season for example.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Left back, cm, right wing. We have some excellent players but do need strengthening in some areas. Despite all of this we have still been 2nd pretty much al season. Look at both squads IMO we have better individuals, Liverpool are better as a team and have 3 fantastic forwards. To say Liverpool are much better us quite frankly laughable. We have just as much chance if not more than Liverpool to be challenging. I hate the way we play but we do win games which is what we needed in the league. Liverpool may play fantastic football however for every game they spank a team they then go on and have an awful result
City had 20 shots, you had 5 and scored 3.
Not only that they bossed possession.
I felt it was a fluke result more than anything but happy for you to disagree.

This is a good point, which is probably why it's been ignored. As usual on this site, though, pointless 'your mum' bickering takes precedence.
Also, even though Liverpool have stolen the spotlight with their European exploits and dynamic style, United will also have taken confidence from their recent comeback wins in big games - cup semi, Manc derby - so there's a fair chance either or even both of them could be the early pacesetters next season if City are the slightest bit complacent.
Next season promises to be much more thrilling than this one, with the three aforementioned clubs battling for the title, with Chelsea as an unknown quantity behind, and Burnley, Spurs, Arsenal and Everton all in the reckoning for the Europa League places.

You could answer that yourself btw.
If Liverpool win the CL no one would argue they've had a better season than United no matter where both teams now end up in the league.
However, if you take the league season as a whole then United have been better. Whether we've been as good to watch is another matter but we have been better at picking up points and we've been so all through the season.
I also think United can improve much more than Liverpool if we add some consistency to our game. We keep hearing all season we have a poor manager and poor players and yet only City sit above us and we have the second best head to head against teams in the top six.
Maybe I'm being overly positive but, if we click, I've every confidence that we can produce much better performances next season than what we've seen in this.

To be fair, we've been excellent since October, it was just we had an awful start to the season. Not sure what it's like now, but I know a couple of weeks ago we had only picked up something like 7 points less than city in the past 20 odd games and was comfortably in second over that time period.
Now im aware every team goes through stages of bad spells and you can't just ignore them, but we've got better and better as the season has gone on.

United have lots of work to do. Arsenal n Chelsea will be in transition, Spurs at new ground and Liverpool are Liverpool. They dont do 38 Games. They are a cup side these days.
City win it a canter again more than likely.

Agh I see. Just take a small snippet out of a paragraph to try and prove your point. How sad

I think Liverpool are better at their best and Utd are a better team when at their worst. I certainly couldn't see Utd letting in 3 in 8 mins against Arsenal for example but there is no way on this planet I could see Utd scoring 5 in 40 minutes.

Whats the point of finishing 2nd when you cant compete in the cl
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's the point of even turning up in the league when you know you can't win it?

Exactly, I think you’re basing it on Liverpool’s performance in the QF and SF stages. Not based on a full premier league season. No one is arguing they’ve been at their absolute best in these later rounds, and if they played like that every week I’d agree with you.

Yeah I think they will retain it fairly easily. Maybe 7-10pts next year.
United have lots of work to do. Arsenal n Chelsea will be in transition, Spurs at new ground and Liverpool are Liverpool. They dont do 38 Games. They are a cup side these days.
City win it a canter again more than likely.
