Jack Leach just needs one more for his 10-wicket haul
Rikki Clarke
This has been a really good fight back by Essex considering Surrey were 170 odd for 1 but he's getting some momentum back for Surrey.
Scored 25 off 10 balls since going 9 down and hit a handy half century following a good partnership with Tom Curran.
Rikki Clarke
Quality all-rounder at county level. Looks like he's having a bit of fun here. But yeah, great effort by Essex.
Gone for 56. Surrey 351 all out.
Should have played more for England but can understand why he didn't with Flintoff around when he was on their radar.
Adam Lyth out for a 6-ball quacker
And to think I used to have such high hopes for Adam Lyth
Wickets tumbling quickly today. Worcestershire went from 68/4 to 120 all out to trail by 71 but Hampshire are already 8/2 after 4 overs in response with 2 wickets for Tongue.
Surprisingly only 4 have gone down at Taunton today.
Leicestershire 15/5 in response to Sussex's 373, Ollie Robinson has taken 4/7 in 4.3 overs opening the bowling. Just the 1 for Jofra Archer. Now up to 19/5 with 2 lots of 4 leg byes in the over. Leg byes now the leading run scorer for Leicestershire in that innings.

Had high hopes for Lyth, Lees and Leaning... Two of them can't get in the team anymore
One thing that always occurs to me is how much batting lineups get shuffled around at county level. Batsmen get put in according to the match situation/momentum all the time - they'll chuck in a dasher if there's a solid platform laid, or they'll chuck in someone more defensive if rebuilding is required with the fielding side in the ascendancy.
I just don't know why England don't do the same thing, within reason. I mean, the batting lineup is determined based on the theoretical match situation - i.e. that 3 needs to rebuild against a newish ball, 4 gets to accelerate the scoring against a slightly older ball, 5 and 6 need to score quickly before the 2nd new ball, and so on... but we all know that "ideal" match situation never actually happens for England, so why on earth don't they move the order around to fit the situation?
Just seems like a very basic thing, although to be fair the problem still persists that we only have dashers and no rebuilders.

I think you've nailed it with your final line. We haven't really got anyone to rebuild an innings down the order so there's no real point moving players up the order. They can all counter attack and that's why they do well at 6/7/8. I can't remember the last time we needed to send someone up the order to score runs quickly after a good platform.
Another problem we have is that if you look at a player like Malan, he's a very good one day player who came into the test side at 5 and knuckled down. Due to this promise he showed, he was bumped up to 4 although there was talk of moving him to 3 and he struggled. Although I'd argue that he was out of form that he'd have struggled at 5/6 anyway.

Essex playing like Lancashire
20-3

The top order have been doing it most of the summer. Very similar to England.
Jack Leach match figures 12/120
Pretty extraordinary

it's that sort of comment that led someone to invent scorecards.
