Deserved win but at least it wasn't by an innings

There would've been a wait during the changeover anyway.

Bopara moves his average into the 40s for the season with that unbeaten 80 odd. England recall?

You just know this is the one "random post on a cricket forum" that the selectors will read and think, "Y'know what..."

The one vaguely solid reason I've seen for keeping Jennings in the team for the winter is that he's supposed to be a good player of spin.

ENGLAND'S NUMBER 3 PROBLEM SOLVED

Bumrah short balls will cause Moeen problems. He hates the short stuff.

Boycott on TMS as we speak calling for Stokes to bat at 3.

yeah...why not

posted on 7/9/18

Likely? He's not even halfway there...

That said, his last two test centuries were 243 (Windies 2017) and 244* (Aussies 2017).

Bets on 245 today?

Yeah likely, he's on 40 odd. Can see him going big now.

Do you think he'll reconsider retiring if he makes a century? I still feel he's got a few years left in him and he's better than what England have currently got.

yeah he is but he's made up his mind.

He said he has nothing left in the tank now for England...which is fair...last couple of seasons at Essex & he'll be on the sky or TMS panel after that.

Clearly got something left in the tank as he's producing the goods here....

his words....mentally he's done I guess...he's going out before he's pushed I guess...this seems like an easy batting wicket to finish on

Don't think he would have been pushed out for years, hardly anyone threatening his position. His current partner is terrible

He's putting on some runs today because it's a no-pressure match for him. No worries about his place in the team long-term, no worries about keeping in top shape for the winter tours or spending that long away from his family. I bet it's much easier to play when he can afford to be carefree about it. Nothing weighing him down, y'know.

Plus it's his last match and he'll want to make it a good one so he can go out on a high. Riding the wave of media support too.

No chance he'll change his mind, even if he scores 300.
