I was reading about Jimmy vs Kohli this series. 270 balls, 54 times Kohli has either edged the ball or played and missed. Still yet to get his wicket though.
Hopefully England can take a lead of 80-90 runs into the second innings.

Yeah no doubt about it, Kohli has been lucky in a number of his innings this series. He’s played well but he’s had a lot of fortune along the way.
Dropped a number of times on low scores , a hell of a lot of plays and misses, a lot lbw decisions that were either missed by the umpire or marginal on umpires call.
If some of those had gone England’s way this series would have been an absolute hammering.
Interesting debate of who will bowl first in this match. Rashid... Or Cook <rofl<

Another chit day for us. England made 100 runs too many and that’s no exaggeration. Kohli’s fields once Buttler started attacking were far too defensive.
Fact of the matter is when the ball is moving around corners, England are far superior to us in these conditions and they have won the key moments. I predicted 3-1 to them with a draw here at the Oval but even that is looking like a loss after another batting collapse. I have zero doubt in my mind it would be a very similar scoreline in reverse would this series have been played back home. That’s just Test cricket these days sadly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Difference is that India could easily have been 3-1 up themselves. If this was in India England would have been smashed in all the games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------If if this was in India England would get smashed. Probably. But it’s not. It’s on england and India are getting smashed
We desperately need a wicket here
Ed Smith is on TMS at lunch. Wish I was able to listen. Hopefully Aggers gives him a good grilling.
It's not desperate but it's frustrating. A lead of 50 would still be very nice.
Jennings really is a poor cricketer. easy drop there and when he was in the slips. he use to let balls go for 4 when the ball was 2 feet to the side of him.
As for his batting.. least said soon as mended.
Ed Smith on Keaton Jennings' chances of touring this winter: "Having spoken to people in the team, it's obvious Keaton has got a very clear method and it's just been a difficult summer to open the batting."
FFS. What a woeful non-answer.
Just give stokes the bat and tell him the Indians are all homo’s. Job done.

why is a selector asking players what they think? aint it his job to make his own decisions?.
facksakes...get Jedeja out...he aint Kohli
I would be VERY disappointed if England get bowled out cheaply on this pitch. Its obviously died a death.
Seriously if England do collapse.Things need to change badly.

his own decisions based on whatever information he can obtain.
obtaining insights from experienced players playing alongside others, sounds like being potentially a very good source of information.
good on him for being so open minded to taking such an approach.
it's very easy to knock, but smith's doing an excellent job imo.
Fine picking players. Its not fine asking them who looks good who doesn't.. They not gonna say Jennings Is complete tripe are they??.
I would have more faith in Smith if he finishes Jennings career after the next innings..
Would have been harsh for him to come out and say "he's been awful". Not saying it wouldn't have been fair but it would be pretty crushing for him. Actions will speak louder than words anyway, I just hope they realise Jennings isn't their man sooner rather than later.
In regards to the match situation, England won relatively comfortably last time out with a 27 run deficit. This time they have a 40 run lead. Still plenty of time in the game though so bat with patience, get yourself in and then cash in.

you don't think Alistair Cook could provide any opinions or insights about someone he's opened the batting with all summer that could have any potential value ??
