Jose good appointment at the time?

Very rarely happens like that though. Psychologically when you’re not in a title race you don’t have the same intensity as the season draws to a close. Happens all the time. We did have an FA cup run and went to Wembley and beat Spurs and were the better team in the final but sadly got beaten
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And yet despite all that you still predicted we would get 89 points.

You can see now why people think you are an imbecile.

Had united still been in a title race by Feb we would have gotten more than 81 points
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's pure speculation, Robb.

An opposing view would say that you should've been killing it by the end of the season in order to carry some momentum into the new season.

It's still pure speculation though. Besides, you were on course for 83-84 points when Ed extended his contract. That's still only been title-winning form in something like 3 out the last 15 years.

It made even less sense considering he already had another season on his contract, that his 3rd season had gotten progressively worse at every single club he'd hung around, and that said 3rd year had never been as good as his 2nd.

Allegri won 1 title with Milan before going to Italy's version of Celtic. He has also said he will retire at 55 due to the stresses of the job.

No thanks
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I suppose you think Jose is the poster boy of stress management

Was that before or after he abused the female medical

----------------------------------------------------------------------
So if they both struggle to cope with stress yup compare them on other factors, such as past successes

His third season meltdown this time round was because he wasn’t backed properly. Crazy as it sounds, had the club given him everything he wanted this summer then maybe he wouldn’t have had a meltdown which made it even more bizarre that they gave him the contract but didn’t back him after that

Without knowing who Jose wanted and why Ed didn’t deliver it is hard to say who is to blame. Jose however should have just got on with the job and done the best he could with what he had instead of trying to prove a point and going down a road he didn’t need to.

A good manager who lost the plot in season 3. Would Allegri, Ancelotti, Giggs done any better than Jose. we will never know.

Perhaps, and not without good reason, they didn't like what they saw between January and the end of the season.

Also, wasn't the whole lack of backing issue all on the lone basis of not getting him a CB?

In fact this thread goes to show how hung up on me you are as it is evidence of you trying to gain support as I kicked your ar$e on this subject yesterday.

Most people with half a brain cell knew that Jose wouldn’t be a good appointment. The obvious reasons being his playing style and the ability to alienate himself from the players and the board, typically in his 3rd season.

The same group of supporters were also willing to get behind him in the hope he would adapt his methods to fit the traditions of the club. Unsurprisingly, he didn’t and he proved a lot of sceptical supporters correct.

Regardless, RDD, the point of what triggered him isn't the most relevant factor here, as each time it seems to have been a different factor. At Chelsea his relationship deteriorated with Roman first because of Sheva, then Grant; at Madrid he lost the dressing room over his public scapegoating of players; and Chelsea part 2 it was over the Eva affair.

Different triggers each time suggests that it's not really a question of what happens so much as the fact that a wide range of things will set him off.

The two key issues are that: a) each time he's 'been triggered' he's proved incapable of steering himself or his squad back on track; and b) that it was a proven fact that every club he'd been at had gone backwards during his third season in charge.

Given the fact that he already had a third year on his deal and, in addition, that United were hardly pulling up trees in Jan 2018 either, it made very little sense to hand him an extension beyond that third season.

Meanwhile that Spurs goal has probably just caused Hafi to lose the plot.

So Alegri won the league and then went Juventus, won over the fans and won titles with them.

Alegri > Jose

So. United didnt win the Title last year only because the team that won it were better than us over the whole season.

You really couldn't make that up
