Saw that video earlier today
The way Peter said D&D are great writers reminded me so much of Sansa's victimized "I'm loyal to Joffrey, my one true love" statements
Kat Harrington's aswell . Bless him, so perfect for the Jon Snow character clearly, can't even lie when he's contractually obligated too.

Harsh....but true
There's still been a lot of good in it, some of the individual battle scenes and direction has been stunning. It is a pale imitation of its former self though and I'd struggle to rewatch it all again knowing the end results of some of the characters.
I think that would apply to The Godfather III as well.
One thing this series does have going for it is the acting, and funnily enough knowing a majority of the cast weren't motivated by the material they're working with makes it even more impressive.
Emilia Clarke's been the show's weak link acting wise (IMO) for the past seven seasons, but she's really trying in this one with pathetically weak material to justify the character's future actions. It's one of Peter's best seasons acting wise IMO (maybe only topped by S4), he's getting across his own uncertainty about Dany & the future brilliantly/scene with Jamie in E5 was powerful stuff. Lena's not done much but what she has done she's knocked out the park, end of E5 - phenomenal stuff.
Miguel's direction of E3 was patchy, I won't blame the lighting issue on him as that's a post-production failure, but the quick cuts were a little bit much - though the dragon stuff was fantastic. E5 though, brilliant.
It's the writing that's let it down. Everything else is more than passable.

I wonder how much say Peter Dinklage has in the general storyline? If as I've predicted Tyrion ends up being King then it would indicate that Dinklage has quite a lot of sway. His name always comes up first in the credits as well. Certainly in more recent seasons anyway.

I saw a tweet that summer it up quite well:
Never have I seen such brilliant directing, cinematography, acting, editing, music, sound editing and visual effects set to such bullsh!t writing.
https://twitter.com/swearimnotpaul/status/1128063005965594624
I've rated this season like this:
GoT S08E01 - 7/10
GoT S08E02 - 6.5/10
GoT S08E03 - 3/10
GoT S08E04 - 4/10
GoT S08E05 - 4/10
I think what upsets me most is that I am incredibly sceptical that he'll ever finish the books, and so, this 'false' ending will remain true for me (until some distant relative seeks to finish the books from his scrap notes...).
I think the first four seasons of the show are amazing, however, after that, it drops off the edge of a cliff (a few notable exceptions - Battle of the B's being one of the best episodes I've seen of anything, ever).
Lena Heady made $1m an episode this season to stare through a window drinking wine...
Not a singular thing has been explained about the WW or the Night King and their motivation (George simply does not do Good vs Evil; even seemingly tyrannical, torturous characters have quite clear, yet complex, motivations).
Bran (who was hyped up for a lot of the books / show as the Luke Skywalker-type literally does SWEET FA with his powers (even the one thing he did do had to be corroborated by Sam who, conveniently, reads a book that has been in the Citadel all this time and NO SCHOLAR or even THE AUTHOR thought to say "Hey guys, let's not cause one of the greatest wars in Westerosi history and kill thousands upon thousands of innocents, based on a fallacy of rape".
Completely disregarded the Valonqar theory, and simultaneously destroyed Jaime's character arc.
What was the point of Euron, at all?
Clegane-bowl was a complete mess and defied the boundaries that they themselves set in the world.
Sorry for the rant, but they've ruined one of my greatest treasures as a child and through to adulthood. It's honestly as if they've never read any of the books or even seen and valued their own early work.

Tyrion getting executed
Bran will be king
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The final episode should begin with a number of executions for a range of treasonous offences.
Ser Davos Seaworth - A charge of high treason for adhering to the sovereign's enemies and giving them aid and comfort.
Tyrion Lannister - High treason for compassing or imagining the death of the sovereign, and also adhering to the sovereign's enemies and giving them aid and comfort. A separate charge also stands for daring to suggest that the sovereign was accountable to her subjects.
Jon - High treason for mutiny, and a separate murderous act of war against an agent of the sovereign. Offering succour to Her Majesty's enemies, and general conduct unbecoming of an officer.
Sansa - High treason involving the attempt, by an overt act, to overthrow the sovereign. A separate charge of sedition for conduct directed against the sovereign intended to excite disaffection against Her Majesty.
Bran - High treason for failing to report all of the above despite possessing incontrovertible prior intelligence.
Bran- high treason for being a useless git,, who just wargs out into his own world instead of helping others plan things....
Bran clearly warged that horse to arya
Why didn’t bran watch the dragon to stop the slaughter?
Probably doesn’t give a Fack..
I haven't actually found season 8 that bad but Bran is just a massive waste of a storyline. Someone posted a video above where GRRM mentions changing the storyline once people figure it out. That's clearly what's happened with Bran I think. We're just left with this whole story that isn't really going to be explained.

On the same page. It’s not been bad at all still better than 99% of stuff on tv and most movies (I’d take this over 95% of marvel movies) some of it amazing tv, some of it is up there with the best tv ever made..
They’ve had to sacrifice detailed plot for haste. Part of that, contracts, part of that other projects (all in high demand), and budget.
People over analyse, they go too deep, thinking it’s a never ending bottomless pit of money they have to work with, but hey, they want profit too.
Perhaps they could have strung it out longer, it does seem sudden, but for every super expensive battle scene, they could have 8 ‘normal’ episodes
Personally, i think they should have stretched to 10 this last series, but I can appreciate why they didn’t.
Actually, 99% of marvels output tbf.
