How this show ends has become quite obvious. Both Dany and Jon will die in the last episode, probably by killing each other in a fight involving Drogon who also has to die now. Tyrion and Sansa will become the King and Queen and rule together. The end.
Pacing has been ridiculous since s6. However if you think DB & DBW have had a hard time concluding this series, imagine how GRRM is feeling
He'll never complete the books though.
GRRM can feck off
Should've finished the books ages ago the lazy caaant instead of spending years sat on his fat arrse talking about the tv series in interviews and shows going on tours etc.
I think the last two episodes have suffered from poor writing. This last season should have been spread across a couple of 10 episode seasons so it could play out properly.
I think the acting and visuals have been good though and it has been entertaining. They seem to have ignored the complexity of the storylines and characters in the last few episodes though.

Yeah, I blame him for it more than anyone. He will never finish the books and in all honesty, has never been interested in doing so as soon as the TV series took off.
I don't think he had any idea on how it would end up playing out, got lost in the complexity of the world he created and even though I am sure he has advised the TV series; he is happy for them to take all the blame from disgruntled fans.

Exactly that. The fact she was going to turn mad eventually was obvious, it’s more they rushed the descent into it that’s the issue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many episodes did people need to show that she wasn’t the perfect Queen that Tyrion and Varys had hoped.
It’s been evident for some time now. Small instances like when she burnt the Tarleys alive. Go back and watch the look on Tyrion’s face in that moment. The doubts are already there.
In fact, go back though the last few seasons and there are many instances where Daenerys starts to show signs of her merciless side.
The loss of her council and her dragons was a huge blow. She even said in this very episode that killing the innocent people isn’t what she wants but if it saved future generations then there’s is grounds to destroy the City.
I don’t think we needed the slow drip of Daenerys becoming more irrational with every episode. It needed a brief moment for it to trigger and her arc and circumstances made it not only satisfactory but in her own eyes, justifiable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I totally agree that the signs were there and were possibly slightly masked by the fact that as Dany's mask slipped little by little, Cersei was full on evil queen so in comparison Dany still looked like the hero of the story. Plus her council kept her on roughly the right path.
I also agree however that the switch from 'not perfect' to full on massacre was a little too quick. But that could be said of this whole series - a little rushed. My friend compared it to the Star Wars prequels when there were signs Anakin was turning dark but the light switch moment felt too quick.
One thing I really liked was the end for Cersei and Jamie. The fact that this woman stood watching whilst everything she'd ever wanted was falling down around her and when it came down to it she was left with the only person who ever truly loved her as the reality (literally) came crashing down. I liked it a lot. Quite subtle but the arrogance and confidence had been stripped away. At the end she was just a person who didn't want to die but knew she would. I'd far rather that than some gruesome end.

still mad rhaegal got sniped out the sky perfectly but hundreds more of those machines cant touch drogon, guess the professionals had a day off
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup it was totally nonsensical. In the last episode Dany couldn't get anywhere near them and had to get Drogon out of there immediately. Yet in this episode they can't shoot anywhere near her.
If it was so easy she'd have just done that in the last episode surely. I'm sure if you played both scenes from each episode back to back it would look completely absurd.
Like I said last week Dany and the dragon were sitting ducks for Cerci but instead was happy to kill her assistant. This this week she dies without even Dani breaking a sweat. Just a huge anticlimax.
With the dragons though, they get Rhaegal by surprise, Dany dodges they in that episode when on Drogon.
The next episode, it’s more she attacks from the right place, then keeps low and makes the scorpions have to turn.
I didn’t mind that bit, I liked that them killing the dragon easily in the first place led to the arrogance of thinking the battle against Dany would be easy to win to the extent Cersei goaded it on by killing Missandei.
Only Targaryens can ride dragons right?
Does that mean the Night King was a Targaryan?
Although it doesn’t make sense really!
I think people are being too dismissive of Danys bloodline.
She was always destined for madness - plus, she herself stated "we will lay waste to their armies and burn cities to the ground"
Most targaryens weren't mad though, one occasionally popped up but its still rare, not bothered personally by her turning into this as i never though her character came across as an angel, they should have had rhaegal die this episode as the bells were being rung, would explain her sudden rage

No he simply warged a dead dragon the same way he controls the army of the dead.
Agree with other comments that Dany going mad is fine and makes sense but it happened way too quick, same way Jaimie going back to Cersei was way too quick.
If we had had 2 seasons on 10 episodes I think it would have been perfect, with 1 season dedicated to the night king and then the final season dedicated to Cersei and Dany going mad.
Would've been a nice back story if the Night King was part of the First Men that made their way from Essos.

Again though, I haven’t seen anyone been dismissive of it, they’ve been dismissive of the simplistic way she eventually got to it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Very relevant point here.
I will say tbf the writers at least tried to make this work, the signs have been there since S7 slowly but surely - how the further she gets from the Throne the more irrational she becomes. So if that trigger moment was the right circumstance and situation it might've just about worked - but they got that completely wrong. She won, they rung the bells, and she went mental anyway...... why?
Even forgetting adding additional episodes, which is what this really needed to work, there's little touches they could've made to that exact moment that would've had it stand up much better.... e.g. in a quiet moment after the bells stop ringing, she hears faint screams of the people saying 'foreign w****', 'devil', mad b****', etc... which would play on her insecurities that she's incapable of inspiring love in Westeros. Or she could've spotted a head on a pike in the distance, flown over and see it was Missandei's disfigured (as if the people were throwing stones at it). Or even Grey Worm becomes the one who starts attacking the people, more forgivable character switch, and Dany starts burning them to defend him.
They needed to instill, no matter how small, some sense of justification in Dany's head that the people of King's Landing were the enemy just as much as Cersci.
Extra episodes would result in more crappy writing imo, its been that way since season 5
Anyway hbo said they could have 10 episodes, but d&d didnt want to
Because they have more money waiting for them after Game of Thrones.
