It definitely was rushed, and needed more episodes, I think everyone can agree on that. As someone accurately pointed out, if season 8 writers were in charge of writing season 1, then Ned would have been beheaded by episode 2 or 3.
You can't spend a whole season on things like establishing Dany as a Khaleesi, and then spend 1 or 2 episodes on doing away with the Night King and his dead, or the battle for King's Landing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Benioff and Weiss were offered more money, and time to do full two seasons. They turned it down
Some say they had already lost interest and turned their minds to their Star Wars movies. That's maybe true, but the reality is they only wanted to do 7 seasons, HBO pushed them to do 8 which they only agreed to if the numbers were reduced.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could you imagine how much if a train wreck season 7 would have been if they got their way?
Dany landing in Westeros, fighting the lannisters, fighting the night king, dealing with Cersei and then dealing with Dany going mad all in the space of 10 episodes

I am not going to go over previous comments but I too was left very disappointed by S8 from a script and character development point of view. My feeling in the middle of the finale was maybe a romantic one, but to follow through with the arc that Mr Snow followed, and those closest to him, I think the following would have closed it more appropriately for me:
After the throne melting (which btw (along with all of the Dragon scenes in S8) was unbelievable production and awesome to watch) the Dragon grabs Jon and chucks him in the Lava, with Jon walking out and onto Drogon’s back ala Danni in S1, basically accepting him as his new “Parent” and true heir (clever beasts....).
The episode plays out very similarly, but Jon is forced to first confront Grey Worm and the armies, who accept him, and then the meeting of Lords, most of whom have received Varys’ transcripts and push for him to be king. He refuses and appoints a democratic rule, led by his best buddy and all round top bloke Sammy Tarley, with Bran and Tyrion as his “hands”. Sansa QOTN, Arya off to the Iron Isles / exploring with Reek’s sister.
Final scene is Jon flying over the wall with the wildlings led by the big ginge below.
I also don’t think Cercei had enough going on in S8 but I won’t go into that!!

Nobody complained about The Sopranos ending...or The Wire ending or Breaking Bad's ending.
It's ok to say you spent 8 years of your life invested in something only for it to turn out shiiit. We all make mistakes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because all those endings were better. Breaking bass was arguably a top 5 episode.
People lost their minds over “lost”
Don’t get what your point is
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody will complain about the ending if it was done right so the notion that people will complain regardless of how they ended it is well....bullshiiit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ooo I get ya. My bad. I agree wholeheartedly
Prequel series will be set 5000yrs before this series.
1st season expected to be released next yr at the earliest, but most probably 2021.
Dont know what to think after that last season.
Lets be honest...we're all gonna watch it lol
Is there source material?
Cause if not...faaaackkk off with those shows

GRRM says people should read Fire & Blood. Then later in the article it says that the show won't be pulling from any of the books but George remains as a co-creator.
I just got round to watching it last night.
Its sheet.
Last two episodes I was like wtf????
I thought the same about the penultimate episode and when I went online I found most people agreed it was crap writing.
I absolutely hate prequels.
How about a sequel of Arya's journey to see what is west of Westeros? Or following Jon (what a terrible ending)
It's supposed to be about how the Night King was created and White Walkers. Thousands of years before dragons.

Sorry
As for the writing being pretty woeful the last two seasons I think that D & D and GRRM deserve a bit of flack for this.
GRRM has admitted that he gave D & D the information on how each of the main characters were going to die and where, granted in the books there will be a lot of chance to make the deaths a lot more meaningful (Danerys and her inner voices that have been with here since the early books means her turn will be much more dramatic than "Bells ring...lets go mental".
D & D are guilty of lazily joining the dots and trying to rush things to finish the whole thing but what also really annoyed me was when looking into the writing I saw an interview with Ian McElhinney (the guy who played Ser Barristan Selmy). He mentioned that he was a big fan of the books before he got the part and when he saw his character had two chapters in the book he was excited for the future only to find that D&D had him written off to die in a fight in a side street with the sons of the Harpy. He called D&D to give them an opinion and they didn't change their minds. They even mocked him in a later interview saying that his complaints made them want to kill him more (I cannot link the article at the mo as Im at work but its easily found via a quick google). Even the best writers take a bit of input from their cast but D & D seemed to be running on their own ego for some time. I'm glad I'm not a diehard Star Wars fan because I have a feeling they will ruin that too.
What I want to know is...
Where did the massive armies come from for Dany when she was attacking Kings Landing?
Most of her armies got wiped out in the battle of Winterfell. The Dothraki were randomly sacrificed right at the start. Yet at Kings Landing there were loads of Dothraki. Why? How? Did she randomly decide not to deploy half of them at Winterfell (which to be fair, given the rest of the battle plans, is entirely in keeping with their ineptitude)?
And I suppose if Jon killed Dany, then why didn't the Dothraki get behind Jon since he killed their Khaleesi? Or have they completely renounced their old ways?
On face value I thought it was fine. But feck me there are so many ENORMOUS plot holes that it's almost laughable.
We dont even know what the dothraki are doing, they didnt appear to leave with the unsullied. werent even mentioned
I assume she did leave some forces at dragonstone, but yeah there wasnt that many left at winterfell

Will ? Presumably you didn't see the abortion that was The Last Jedi.
Sadly this level of brain-dead writing is becoming more and more commonplace in big movies and TV shows. They must think that the general public have an average IQ of about ten.
