We were pretty much untouchable - restricting other teams to low numbers of shots on target.
----------
But that was how it was ow the whole season, not just whilst BPF in goal.
Was interesting after Wigan game that the players said what their tactics were against Leeds, about how there was so much space to exploit.

So you're saying that we were playing as well towards the latter half of the season as we were in the first half?
The thing that changed was in the first part of the season, other teams were at a loss on how to deal with our high-press. As they figured it out, the chances they did get, they were ready to make use of. Also changes in our personnel caused by injuries didn't help to cover the 'holes' in our defence or midfield.
Yes - our possession stats and shots ratios were consistently high across the season, but as the season wore on, BPF showed his fragility more and more and I for one was keen to see a replacement found. I think Casilla will be solid next season.
Why is it so hard to not just read what I had written?
I commented on the number of chances the opposition got, not how well or not we were playing.
It was pretty clear to most fans that our issues were our ineffeciency at converting chances.

True, but doesn't mean that was our only issue.
Defensive lapses and goalkeeper recklessness cost us big in the run in.

Nothing to do with BPF then as it was Casilla in the run in.

I agree with you and agree with the opinion that we would have been better off with BPF as number one choice throughout the season and was against him being replaced as first choice in January.

Points that were lost earlier in the season (eg Birmingham) are just as pivotal. BPF was also bailed out numerous times by the rest of the team playing at a higher level. See Blackburn and Derby.
We were conceding more chances in the second half of the season
We had 69 shots on our goal in first 23 league games 75 in second 23 league games, it’s a negligible difference over 23 games.
An 8.7% increase is negligible? Not sure I agree with that.
And whatever your opinions about BPF, there is a reason that Bielsa had warned him he'd be dropped for Blackman, and then when the latter had to return from the club, he went out and bought a keeper to go straight into the 1st team.
He clearly didn't feel that BPF had been as crucial to our early-season form as you do.
Don't believe he should be slated, just don't believe he was as important as you're suggesting.
6 shots over 23 matches, that's one extra shot on target every 4 matches, yes, it's negligible and Bielsa has never cited it as an issue, only our inefficiency in converting chances.
However you dress it up, it's an 8.7% increase and most people wouldn't say that was negligible.
it depends what their acceptable margins are, 0.25 of a shot extra per match does not suddenly make half a season different to the other half.
It's unresearched comments dressed as fact that undermine any sort of position.
I wasn't responding to whether it had changed our season - as a season ticket holder who only missed two home matches, it was clear to me that what changed was slower movement through the middle and suddenly requiring far more chances to score a goal.
I was commenting on whether a 8.7% change in anything is regarded as negligible and I don't think it is.
However, nor do I think it had an affect on the outcome of our season!
Tedd, I wasn’t saying you had, someone rose had made out that was the difference between first half if season and second half.
Fair enough, I thought it was aimed at me.
As I said, wasn't the difference as far as I was concerned.
I think regardless of if you see as a negligible difference, there are many other aspects to it.
it was clear to most that BPF was a bit of a weak link, and it was right he went to number 2,
At the time when you sign an experienced goal keeper from Real Madrid, to come in as a number 1, its seen as a good move.
hindsight is a wonderful thing, its all too easy to be wise after the event.
there were no complaints from anybody at the time.
To be honest, I thought our problems towards the end of the season were actually scoring. Yes a couple of times our goalie was rash, very rash. But in most games we created and had chances to score - we just didn't.
I like BPF, I hope he stays - but I hope he has strong competition for his place - if he wants to be our No1, he has to earn it and remain consistent. Slight variation of what I said before, but I've had time in the sun to think it over more.
Bottom line, had we could have scored a lot more in the latter few weeks. We didn't. That's why we're debating another season in the championship.

Don't you think it's more relevant to this topic that we conceded more goals than 89% of sides would have when faced with the same chances created!
Massive problems at both ends but that actually stands out more.
