Klopp or Pep?

Pep need a certain type of players to play his style. There is a lack of technical players In the championship. He would improve those like Bielsa has done but at the end of the day you can't expect Bamford to be a finisher like Aguero.

Klopp would adapt and will play to the strength of his players if he was in the championship.

When Pep goes to a club who dont have a open chequebook and they need building and then wins the league he can then be compared to Klopp.

I have to say there are some good matured posts from Man United fans on this thread. Fair play to them.

They are both chequebook managers, so neither really.

We don't have to like it, but we have to respect it. He's fone an unbelievable job. And I don't think anyone could have done better. Is what it is, sadly

Net spend is a complete irrelevance in football.

Because he's literally been on minimum wage whilst at Liverpool hasn't he?

The difference between Klopp and Pep is consistency of producing trophies. The City team he built last season was phenomenal, and not half bad the year before either! Klopp needs a period of title winning dominance before we can say he’s better than Pep.

Still an amazing coach in his own right, of course.

Ole has already spend half of what Klopp has spent in one year

Career net spend

Pep £1b

Klopp £50m

Nuff said.

Spend is somewhat of an irrelevance. Klopp has bought cheap (VVD aside) and well. He’s also had four years to build his team. United haven’t spent well - we know this - but Ole only has four of his own in the squad.

Liverpool fans of all people should respect how hard it is to get the right blend.

Both great managers but don't see how you can say Pep is better when every club he's managed has already been the best in that league, he hasn't done anything out of the ordinary, he won a lot with a messi barca, won a german league with the best team in it by far yet failed to win the CL, and has won the PL with the richest team but still failed to win the CL.

Klopp won the CL last season with Pool ffs, and look at them this season. And that's without his dortmund achievements.

Both are exceptional managers.
I'd argue klopp improves players more generally though.
John stones and most of peps cb recruitment have been sketchy at best and few have improved like matip/robertson/trent/gomez have under klopp.
I also think klopp achievements at dortmund were so good people compare it to peps achievements at Munich, when resource wise they were on a different level from the start. That speaks volumes really.
Peps so good, and has had backing to match, that even he admits the CL is what he will be gauged on.
He has done amazingly well and raised the bar in the PL 100% but it's crazy to think they haven't made at least CL final in that period, with their spend and squad depth.

even at City, Pep's done well but he's bought his team. Need a full back? Bang we'll go spend 100m

He hasn't achieved anything extraordinary @ City which is the main way i settle it, we knew City would win PL's under Pep, who the fk would of predicted the utter domination and team Klopp has built though

Klopp 100%. Not to say Pep isn’t a very good manager, but achieving what Klopp has at Dortmund and Liverpool is a lot harder than Pep achieving what he has at City, Barca and Bayern. Pep has taken over some of the biggest and most richest club sides on the planet. Klopp has turned clubs into powerhouses. Liverpool were nowhere this dominant before Klopp took over.

Everyone's saying VVD is Klopp's best signing.

Did he get him on a free?

posted on 2/2/20

People seem to confusing ability, with trophies.
Pretty sure if Klopp has left Mainz and joined Barca, their trophy count would be little different to what Pep managed.
Klopp may never match Pep in terms of trophies won, but in terms of managerial ability, theres no doubt hes as good, and properly better than Pep.

No but he’s built up this Liverpool side very slowly and turned them into a powerhouse. City we’re winning titles under the likes of Mancini long before pep come over, Pep obviously raised the bar and improved the football, but what has he achieved more than Mancini ? He hasn’t won a CL. Klopp > Pep

If I had to choose one for my team it would be Klopp.
If I was the owner of PSG, probably Pep

No but looking at pool selling their best player and using half the fee to buy a cb with that much influence was a masterstroke. Imagine if city pursued their interest?
Now people laugh at the idea of selling him for 150 million so, besides prize money since he joined, he has at least doubled in value.
Otamendi, stones and countless others peps spent big on but not found a partner for laporte. Doesn't undermine what peps won but proves vd was shrewd business surely?
Liverpool and spurs have low net spends compared to the Manchester clubs

Thing is, Klopp can do both.
Go to PSG and be successful, or go to United, Liverpool etc, and be successful.
Time scales might be somewhat different, but ultimately I feel hed get there.
Wouldnt know about Pep, as hes never really put himself into those type of jobs.

Really? Have you been listening to Pep? Nah, Klopp is vastly superior imo. Whilst Pep is still a top class manager
